nihilistic

In school, we study a play.
In the end the main character looses his grasp on the point of life.
His wife is dead and he will die, he knows this.
"Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow" He says.
Our teacher says this is called 'nihilism'.
This makes me think.
For whatever reason did humans get dropped onto this earth and collectively decide: "Let's make everyone miserable!"
"Let's invent money!"
"Let's invent weapons to fight wars"
"Let's invent marriage!"
'Let's use religion for power!"
"Let's create unfair laws!"
"Let's marginalise people!"
"Great idea, let's kill people!"
We had absolute and complete freedom to live quite content and comfortably.
We could have all been free to do as we pleased.
We could be saving the planet.
I could be doing something with meaning,
yet here i am, complaining and disguising it with the title of 'poetry'.
So i ask, like many before me, what on earth is the point in all of this?
Not happiness, certainly.
Maybe love.
Yes, maybe love.
