----------Few days later, SATURDAY ------------
At the airport..
I say my final goodbyes to my relatives who brought us to the airport. My cousins who were practically my siblings start crying and I do too. My cousins truly mean a lot to be because we grew up together, spent our childhood together. We were simply there for each other no matter what. We would sometimes fight but nonetheless, I loved them like my siblings since I was an only child. I know I'm going to miss this place so much but I need to do this. It will be better for dad and I.
We head to the waiting area after checking in our luggages and passing several security check points. We waited for the boarding of our plane for an hour or so until it was time to board and I feel a tear slip out of my eye. I continue walking until I'm on the entrance and the stewardess gets my boarding pass. I look for my seat in the plane and I sit next to my dad and before I knew it, I'm fast asleep on the window. I wake up to the sound of the voice of my dad asking me to wake up to eat because it was a long ride without any stops. I hated airplane food so I just eat bread with butter. I noticed we were up high on the sky already and it feels like I'm on heaven in Earth. I love riding on airplanes because I could see everything beautiful from the top. The thick, luscious waters never fail to please my eyes.
After eating, I look out the window and stare at the beautiful view you can only get from the top. I slowly feel sleepy as I stare so I fall asleep again. There is not much things to do when you're on the plane except maybe sleep.
I wake up to the voice of the stewardess telling the passengers to put on the seatbelt as we are about to land and I do so. I could feel the excitement rushing through my body and a big smile forms on my lips.
Before I could even notice, I am in London. Ready to face a new life. I smile to myself knowing THIS IS IT!
I couldn't help but to smile to myself as we grab our luggages from the conveyor belt and head towards the gate. At the gate, I saw a tall man-quite skinny holding up a sign--'Mr. Gonzales and family' it holds. Dad and I quickly approach the man and he gives us a little smile. He introduces himself as Alexander Thomas. Dad and Mr. Thomas shake hands. Mr. Thomas introduces himself as the company driver who also happens to be a half-Filipino. For some reason, I find it more comforting around Filipinos 'cuz I know we are hospitable and friendly. Mr. Thomas tells Dad and I to call him Alex and we simply nod our heads in agreement. Alex leads us to the car which happens to be an elegant black car. Alex opens the door for dad and I and we hop in.
Alex silently drove us to this place which is approximately 30 minutes away in what seems to be our so called 'flat'. I did a little research on the words differently used in London English compared to American English. For example, 'trash can'--American English and 'Rubbish bin'--London English.
Alex gave us two sets of house keys. One for me and one for dad. Alex helped us carry our bags to the front door.
From the outside, the house looked fairly good in size for two people to live in but much smaller than our house in the Philippines.
I quickly slip in the key to the front door and I was in pure happiness with what was right befor my eyes. I can't believe I would be living here! This house has everything I have ever wanted! An oven for baking, a big T.V., a large refrigerator and many more! I guess this job my dad got is really big time! My dad deserves it after all the hard work he put in this company. Alex puts all our luggages beside the stairs and says 'three rooms, 4 bathrooms; 1 in each bedroom and 1 near the stair case. There is also a swimming pool at the back with a shower.' After hearing about the swimming pool, I started jumping around like crazy! I hugged my dad and said many thank you's. Back in the Philippines, only the elites had swimming pools at home but I guess here, everyone has one. I quickly run up the stairs and find the second to the largest room since my dad deserved the largest one. I open the first door and I already knew this was the one. The walls were painted a light shade of Purple, the bed was fully made up and it was a freaking queen-sized bed fit for a princess! I walk in the bathroom to see a bathtub AND shower. I open another door in the bathroom to see a walk-in closet! I squeal in delight! I walk out again to start unpacking. We left our furniture back home since we didn't need it because dad says that the house already has furniture. We didn't sell our house back home instead we asked my dad's sister to live in it but at the same time, take care of it while we were away. I unpacked all my clothes, make-up and shoes and place them where they belong.
I finish quite late in the afternoon already and dad asks me to walk with him to this nearby café that Alex said served good dinner. We walked 3 blocks until we entered this small café that smelled like coffee and cinnamon. We ordered our food which tasted really delicious! Dad ordered Carbonara while I ordered pesto. After dinner, we walk back to the house and I turn on the T.V. to the entertainment channels. They were talking about the success of One Direction. 'From U.K. to the world....' the reporter states. I smile at the thought of One Direction because it reminds me of my fangirling moments with Kherstel and Rain which makes me remember how much I missed them. 'One Direction will be having a concert in O2 Arena this Wednesday and Thursday night.. grab your tickets now!' The reporter says. I feel my eyes get really heavy so I switch off the T.V. and head to my room. I change my clothes into something clean and comfy. I brush my hair and brush my teeth before lying down on my bed. This is my first day and first night in London and it's been great.. I hope this goes on forever.. I think to myself.
Just as I'm about to close my eyes, I hear a knock..
"Come in" I say. My dad comes in with a small but pleasing smile.
"What do you think of London so far?" Dad asks.
"It's been real great, dad. Thank you." I say with a calming voice.
"Well, it gets even better!" He says with a very happy tone of voice. By now, I have a curious face on. Dad pulls out 1 ticket for the One Direction concert on Wednesday.
"Oh my Gosh!!! Dad! how'd you get this!? It must have cost a fortune!" I say.
'Well, let's just say that it is your reward for not giving me a hard time while raising you." Dad states. I give him a big, tight hug. "Thank you, dad." I say with the biggest smile on my face.
Dad pulls away.. 'almost forgot. We are going school hunting tomorrow. Be up by 8.' Dad states
'Sure!' I say. With that, I sleep with the biggest smile on my face!
