The footsteps were loud that night, resonated around the floor which broke her sleep. Ishita rubbed her eyes and looked around, Raman was climbing up the stairs holding the envelope in his hand. She straightened up her night shirt and looked at her husband hoping if his anger mellowed down little bit. Raman kept his car keys back at their designated place and looked at his wife who was looking a little terrified maybe due to his previous outburst. "You could have informed them about my arrival Ishita. It was so embarassing to be there at such odd hours." She ducked her head more on his annoyed tone. "Go and sleep, I need to finish up remaining work." He never waited for her to reply and dashed towards his study room leaving her disappointed. Ishita took her phone and walked back in her new room wondering if the new husband's are actually like Raman? Aren't new couples try to understand each other and support each other whenever required? She read lot of poetic and beautiful narrations about post wedding experiences in novels and articles but was all that a lie? This wedding is not what she heard till date. Ishita slumped down at her side of bed and unlocked her mobile phone, the page 3 of online portals are still filled with their wedding pictures, the gossips and speculations about Mrs. Bhalla. They deliberately shared such pictures which didn't showed their faces, rather their backs. Should she believe if he is trying to maintain her privacy or there is some other reason behind it? She don't know anything neither she has enough courage to ask the same. She cuddled herself with the spare cushion feeling alone, her parents and siblings never left her alone even for a second. They are always there to comfort her, she knows they're at an early stage of marriage but at least he can try to know her. She started surfing social media and found their wedding news trending all around. The official announcement of their wedding was made through the social media handle of PSR GROUPS, and lots of speculations regarding her identity made. Some believe she is his old girlfriend from college days, others believe he is saving his reputation from the latest fiasco. She don't know what is wrong with him, she don't know what he is planning to do but she knows he is hard to understand, it's not going to be easy for her to adjust with him.
She then checked her WhatsApp Messenger and found numerous congratulations from her family members, the family chat groups were filled with photo dumps, her friends and college chat groups were filled with the gossip related to Raman Kumar Bhalla's wedding and his mystery wife.
She just hopes if all of her doubts vanish, the gloominess remains short-termed. She never accepted or confessed but she scared off darkness, whether it's in the nature or in the life. She remember the days when she used to cry silently every night when her Appa net with an accident. Those were the most horrifying days for her, when she used to cry just been thinking what will happen if something happened to her Appa. She was unable to express her fears to anyone and for the weeks she kept crying and scaring until her father shifted back home. She removed the curtains away from the glass panels, allowing lights to flood in the room. At least the darkness will not haunt today. Ishita covered herself with a duvet till chin and for another night she took help of the memories, memories she made with her family which lulled back her to sleep.

NEXT MORNING
"Ishita puttar!" Ishita looked at the source of the voice and found her mother in law standing at the doorway. She was strolling in the garden area, soaking herself in the morning breeze. She smiled at her mother in law and took the mug of coffee she probably brought for her. "Good morning aunty."
