Girlhood

Imagine this,

You grew up with a girl group.
It was always the four of you,
You told each other everything,
Traveled together,
Laughed and cried together.
Nothing else mattered,
You had your girls,
And they had you.
That was girlhood.

Yet Now?
Girlhood doesn't even exist,
Not the way you had it growing up,
The moment you guys started to hang around men,
A Competitive mindset came into play.
The "girl, get at him!" to "she better not be around my man",
Thats "Girlhood".
The version of "Girlhood" now only cares about "why is she sleeping with him" or "I'm prettier"
And lastly, a mindset where they think they are better than everyone because they are in a relationship.

Girlhood.
There's no more telling each other anything without being judged,
No more Laughs and giggles for the shits,
Only blank stares and dirty looks.
Insecurities come into play,
Before you know it, Unnecessary drama starts.
Girlhood.
Being an adult trying to live that girlhood is impossible these days,
It makes you not want to make friendships,
It makes you wanna stay to yourself,
And cancel out the desire for the "girls trip" that you desperately wanted.

Remember it was four of you?
Now it's only two of you,
Thriving together,
But in a mysterious way.
The last girl standing will be the aunt to your kids,
The Maid Of Honor at your wedding,
Your ride or die.
The one person you didn't think that will last,
Ended up lasting.
