YN CHOUDHARY
I was still looking around the room when the door suddenly opened.
I jumped slightly.A girl walked in, dragging a suitcase behind her. She stopped the moment she noticed me sitting on the bed.
For a second we just stared at each other.
Then she smiled."Oh! You must be the new trainee."Her English had a Korean accent, but it was clear enough.
I stood up quickly."Yes... I just arrived today."She placed her suitcase near the other bed and extended her hand.
"I'm Seyeon."I shook her hand politely."yn."Her eyes widened a little.
"You're not Korean, right?"I shook my head."I'm from India."
"India?" she repeated with curiosity. Then she nodded slowly."That's interesting."I couldn't tell exactly what that tone meant, but I smiled anyway.
She sat down on her bed and stretched her arms.
"You came at the right time," she said. "Training starts early tomorrow."
My stomach tightened."Tomorrow?"She nodded casually."6 a.m." I blinked."Six?"
"Yes," she said like it was the most normal thing in the world.
"Welcome to trainee life." I laughed nervously.
"That sounds... intense."
"You'll get used to it," she replied. Before I could ask anything else, the door opened again.Another girl walked in.She had long dark hair and sharp eyes. The moment she entered, her gaze quickly scanned the room before landing on me.
"Oh," she said flatly."New trainee?" Seyeon nodded."Yeah. This is yn."
The girl crossed her arms slightly."I'm Haerin." I bowed my head slightly out of habit."Nice to meet you."
She didn't smile, but she gave a small nod.The room fell a little quiet after that.I tried to ignore the awkward feeling and started unpacking my suitcase.
After a few minutes, Seyeon spoke again."So why did you audition?"The question caught me slightly off guard.
I paused before answering."I love dancing," I said honestly."That's it?" Haerin asked. Her tone wasn't exactly rude... but it wasn't friendly either.
I shrugged lightly."I guess that's the biggest reason."Seyeon watched me for a moment."You must be good then," she said.
I laughed awkwardly."I hope so."
"Everyone here hopes so," Haerin muttered.Something about the way she said it made me glance at her.But she had already turned away, scrolling through her phone.
The atmosphere in the room felt strange. Not exactly hostile.Just... tense.Seyeon suddenly clapped her hands together.
"Anyway, you should sleep early."She pointed toward the clock on the wall.It was already past midnight.
"Training tomorrow will destroy you if you're tired."That didn't sound comforting at all.
Still, she was probably right.
I finished unpacking and changed into comfortable clothes before climbing into bed.The lights turned off soon after.
