Hope sat down on the couch wondering what else can be in this diary. John was in bed already so no one can disturb her. She opened the diary. This page was dated February 14, 1945. It had said: Billy and I were together this evening. The night was beautiful. Billy and I made love. We were both scared but our love was strong. It was so romantic. I didn't want to leave him. I wanted to be with him.
Hope turned the next page. February 18, 1945
My mother find out about me and Billy. She was furious. She wanted us not to see each other again. I couldn't bare it. I told her I will leave with Billy. She said she will find us no matter where we were. I was crying all night.
Hope couldn't believe how mean her grandmother was with her aunt. Hope continued to read: March 2, 1945 I told Billy I was having a baby. I had to sneak out to see him. He was so happy about it. We plan to leave together before my mother will know about the baby. I was so happy
March 5, 1945
I got bad news today. I went to see a friend of Billy's. He told me Billy was killed today. He was working to save some money for us for we can leave together to start a new life. A steel rod got loose and struck him at his belly. He was killed instantly. I never be the same again without Billy. I cried all night.
Hope read this passage and started to cry. She realized the love of her life was just killed and she had to raise the baby alone. Hope kept reading but she couldn't stay awakeuntil she fell asleep on the couch.
