Chapter Six: New Beginnings

Elyse's POV

I woke up my favorite way in the world, with Alex's lips pressed to mine. He held both of my hands with his hands above my head on the pillow. There were a lot of mornings when we had make-out sessions before we had to go to work. Once, he even came close to giving me a beard burn because we were being so passionate with each other. Alex let go of one of my hands and slid his hand up my shirt, fondling my bare breast. I slept without a bra on, but I never left my room without one since I lived with my brother. I gasped softly when Alex used his fingers to tweak my nipple and he used the opportunity to slip his tongue into my mouth.

"We should stop," I whispered when he pulled away from me to take a breath. Alex nodded his head and pecked my lips once more before rolling over onto his back. We held hands in between the two of us and just stared up at the ceiling.

"What time do you have to leave?" He asked me while rubbing the back of my hand with his thumb.

"I want to get Steph a coffee from Starbucks before going to work since it's her first day so I'll have to leave by 7." I stretched and I could feel Alex's eyes on me. "Are you still able to take Luna to Sarah's house before you and Ethan go to work?"

"Yeah." He shifted so that he was lying on his side, propped up on his elbow, and placed his hand on my stomach. I wanted him. I wanted him more than he could ever know. I just needed to know that I was emotionally ready for something like this with someone else.

"Well in that case, do you wanna take a shower with me?" I asked, my voice a whisper. Ethan and Luna would still be asleep this early. Alex's mouth went into a half smile and he jumped out of bed, throwing me over his shoulder. I let out a squeal of surprise so I covered my mouth with my hands. We had done this before and I was grateful that he didn't push me to do anything more just yet.

Steph's POV

Danielle was showing me how to use the computer when someone put a coffee cup down in front of me. I looked up and Elyse, who was handing Danielle a coffee of her own.

"I got you a caramel macchiato with extra caramel and light whip. Sarah gave me your coffee order." Elyse winked at me before going into her office to put her own Starbucks down. "How are things going out here?" Elyse asked, coming out of her office and putting on her white coat. My goal was to be a nurse, but it was inspiring to see Elyse wearing a doctor's coat that said "Doctor Manning" in pretty cursive above the breast pocket.

"Did you and Alex play doctor this morning?" Danielle asked Elyse with a small smirk as she drank from her coffee cup. I could see Elyse's face turn bright pink.

"Shhh," was Elyse's response with a small smile on her face. "What would even make you ask that?" Elyse came around the counter to grab some charts.

"Because he just came off the elevator," Danielle said quietly into her cup. Elyse quickly turned around and I could see her whole face light up once again when she saw Alex. He had a small bouquet of pink and yellow roses and a lunch bag in his hands. Ethan was behind him and I tried to make myself look busy so I wouldn't stare and start drooling at him in his uniform.

"What are you doing here?" Elyse stood in front of Alex and smiled up at his face like he was the best surprise in the world.

"I wanted to bring my girl lunch. I noticed you left without yours this morning." He held out the bag and the flowers to her. "I also wanted to bring my girl flowers for her office. I always buy you some for home, but never for here." He looked at her the way I always wished that Tyler would look at me.
