The following day I had tons auf conversations with Ivy that took up the entirety of our lunch break. I learned a lot about her and her family situation. Just as me she was a senior. Her parents had recently divorced, wich was why her and her mother had moved here. Another reason to why she had no friends.
She asked me to introduce her to my friends. But when I told her that I had none and that the once that seemed like my friends were just hanging out with me because I was Jamal's cousin she didn't seem to believe me and accused me of lying. But nonetheless that didn't discourage her, matter of fact she had insisted on me coming over at her place after school so that we could be lonely together - her words, definitely not mine.
I mean I even tried telling her that I wasn't lonely, but she was too stubborn to listen.
"Do you sometimes wonder how life would be if you didn't have hair?" Ivy asked me as she slipped down the pole that was placed in the middle of the bedroom. I shrugged at her rather random question and sighed.
"This just reminded me to take out my braids when I get home.." I mumbled to myself silently.
"Did you say something?" She questioned while doing a split and coming back up to her feet. "Nothing important." I reassured her.
"Okay jokes aside.." Ivy started, sitting down next to me on the beam bag that was big enough for four people to sit on.
"How do you not have any friends, I mean look at you! You're so beautiful and smart and if perfect was a person that would be you." She frowned at me. I couldn't help but chuckle at her expression. "I do have friends but they aren't my "real" friends, you know. I have a feeling that they're mostly only interested in me because of my cousin, even though some are genuinely nice to me, but none of them actually know the real me." I sighed feeling weird for expressing my feelings like that.
"Does that even make any sense?" She nodded slightly. "I get what you mean.." I hummed and stood up, stretching my arms and back.
"Do you wanna play some video games? Call of duty maybe?"
"Yeah sure."

The following day at school I was searching for my lipgloss that seems to have vanished from my locker, when Ivy came running at me.
"Haylie! Did you hear?" She was excitedly waving a flyer in my face.
"Did I hear what?" I was irritated, because I had hit my head against my locker when she called out for me.
