March 1998, Akron, Ohio

Four days since they moved in had passed and Cienna hadn't seen Jesse again. Which was ok, because she was too busy making sure that all of her stuffed animals were perfectly place over her bed. It was a really hard work, because her stuffed bear didn't like being next to her stuffed tiger, yet the giraffe was friends of both of them, so... You could really see the problem Cienna was going through at the moment.

Luckily for her, her mom hadn't gone back to work yet. The hospital had given her a few days off to settle in before she had to start her shift at 4 PM... Today. The three years old brunette didn't want to think about that yet. She hated her mom's afternoon shifts because it meant that she would be coming home late, which also meant that she wouldn't get a bed time story today.

That was another problem Cienna was going through because she loved bed time stories more than anything.

She pushed those thoughts aside, rearranging her toys for the tenth time that day until a soft knock on the door of her new room caused her to turn around. Marissa stood there at the entrance, a soft smile on her face and her light blue scrubs in place. Cienna's smile dropped at the sight.

"Oh, sweetie. I know you want me to stay with you forever." She started, her words oh to familiar as she walked inside and kneeled next to her daughter. "But mommy needs to work so we can have a nice life. You understand that, right?"

Cienna nodded once, looking down the the stuffed giraffe that was still in her hands. "I know."

"Besides," Marissa started, poking her daughter's cheeks, which caused to chuckle softly. "The neighbor's next door are gonna take care of you until I find you a nanny, and they have a son that's near your age. Isn't that fun?"

Cienna locked eyes with her mom, who was already standing up and offering her a hand for her to take. "Is he going to be my friend?"

"If he wants to, which I'm sure he will." Marissa explained, walking her daughter towards the living room. "Why don't we go meet them?"

The small brunette nodded one last time, playing with the hem of her orange shirt while her mother guided her towards the house that was next to theirs. It was a really pretty house, bigger than hers, since it had two floors instead of one, but the colors and the style were the same, just like every other house in their neighborhoods.

Her mom helped her up the steps of the porch and, when they finally reached the front door, Marissa knocked loudly three times before turning to her daughter with an excited smile. Cienna smiled back softly, but still, she hid behind her mother's leg when the door opened.

In front of her stood a blonde woman with green eyes. She gave Marissa a nice smile, clearly expecting her to show up, before her eyes went down towards Cienna and her smile turned into a sweeter one.
