Akron Ohio, November 13th, 1998

"LET'S ALL GIVE a loud happy birthday to Cienna before we go home!" her kindergarten teacher exclaimed with a big smile, causing the rest of her classmates to turn towards her with smiles and excited expressions.

"Happy birthday, Cienna!" They all screamed in unison, making the now 4-year-old brunette blush slightly as she looked down to her hands and thanked them.

Turning 4 hadn't really changed anything for Cienna. Her birthday had been the same as the day before it. It started with her mom waking her up with a hug and a tired face. Marissa still gave her a big smile that covered up her lack of sleep as she helped her daughter put on her favorite blue dress and dragged her towards the kitchen were a big pile of pancakes was awaiting for her.

Cienna ate her usual birthday breakfast happily, pouring more than necessary syrup over them as she engulfed oh her pancakes. She had 20 minutes to eat them until her mother pulled her out of her seat on the table, hang her backpack from her shoulder and dropped her at the St. James household.

Sandra greeted her with a motherly hug and a happy birthday, promising Cienna to make her a cake for dinner that day. Mr. St James, Jesse's father and a serious business man, gave her a clipped smile before turning back his attention to the newspaper in her hands. Jesse, her closest friend in Akron, ran down the stairs to give her a tight her along with promises of playing with her favorite toys that afternoon.

Jesse's promise had her jumping up and down in excitement the entire time she was in her kindergarten room.

"Ok, kids! Let's all form a line and move towards the door were your parents are waiting." The teacher informed, which caused every little kid in the room to get up from the rugged floor they were all seating in and form their usual alphabetic ordered line.

Cienna took her place between Mary and Jacob, two of her classmates as she clung her pink backpack between her hands. Outside, the rest of the students from Carmel's Kindergarten were already pilling up on the front door of the private school building and running towards their awaiting parents.

Cienna looked around looking for a certain familiar face, and her eyes light up when she saw the curly haired boy waving at her from the door. Jesse was already waiting outside next to Sandra and Cienna smiled at them as she waited for her turn to leave.

As soon as she reached the front door, Cienna waved at her teacher, who said goodbye with an amused smile while she watched the brunette run towards the two people who she considered her family by now.
