Lyla
___
The break went by so fast!
Being sick during the break is really not cool.
I had so many plans, but I feel like I didn't do anything.
Well that's not true. I finally finished Henri's book.
Like his note on the first page said, the rest of the book was filled with little notes addressed to me.
Henri gave me his opinion, asked me questions, cleared up certain points that he thought might be over my head.
It's true that certain words were over my head! But not all! So I had the satisfaction of realizing I'm not as stupid as he thinks I am.
Speak of the devil...
As usual, Henri is there, first one in front of the classroom. He is waiting on the teacher with his nose in a book.
Lyla: "Hi Henri!"
He quickly raises his head.
He flashes me that little crooked smile that I'm started to get used to.
Lyla: "Look! I finished the book!"
Henri: "Oh really! Already!?"
Lyla: "Yeah! "Opening the book" wasn't as difficult as you thought!"
He smiled a great smile.
Henri: "I hope you didn't take my messages the wrong way. I just wanted to pepper myself throughout your reading. I sort of doubted that that type of book was your usually thing."
Lyla: "It's true... But you made me want to read it. Plus, you went through the trouble of bringing it to me, so I got started."
Henri: "Yes."
Lyla: "For your information, Mr Smarty-Pants who thinks I'm an idiot, I knew the definition of most of the words you felt you had to define!"
He doubles over laughing.
Henri: "I never doubted you! It was just in case! Are you mad?"
I look at him. He really is being serious.
I decide to take advantage of the situation... Since he seems like a bit of a jokester, this shouldn't turn out badly.
At least I hope it doesn't.
I lower my head and pretend like I'm embarrassed. I don't want him to see my face. I'm a terrible actress.
Lyla: "I... well a little actually... You must still think I have a pea brain... That... that really hurts my feelings you know..."
I can't see him but I sort of get the feeling that he's a little concerned.
Henri: "Lyla! I'm sorry... I was just teasing... all of that was just a little joke! I... I..."
