Lyla
___
Jasmine: "Did you see? Jay's song was deemed "the most beautiful love song" by this one site."
Clement: "How romantic... Such a passionate subject..."
We ignore him.
Lyla: "Yes... It's true that it's not that bad..."
Jasmine: "But?"
Lyla: "But what?"
Jasmine: "You were about to add a "but"."
Lyla: "BUT it's not the most beautiful love song!"
Clement: "You sure seem to have a clear idea of what is."
Lyla: "You don't?"
Clement: "Um, no, little missy! I don't currently have a rating system for "love songs". Sorry to disappoint you!"
Henri comes over to us.
Henri: "Hi."
Lyla: "Hi Henri!"
Clement: "Hey!"
Henri: "Lyla, we get out of class a little early on Thursday. If you want, we could go to my house to work on the presentation."
Lyla: "Oh! Uh sure... That works for me! We can do that!"
Clement: "So Lyla? About that love song?"
Talking about this in front of Henri makes me totally uncomfortable.
I make myself snap out of it. I have to get it together!
Lyla: "For me, the most beautiful song is "Je l'aime à décéder" by Francis Cabral."
Jasmine: "Oh! I love that one too!"
Clement looks disgusted.
Clement: "That is so lame! My parents listened to that when we were kids!"
Jasmine: "Don't exaggerate!"
Lyla: "It might be an old song, but the words are really moving."
Clement: "What about you Henri?"
He seems surprised to be included in the conversation.
Henri: "Um... I guess I don't really have a favorite love song..."
Clement: "Ha! Thank you! I'm not the only one!"
Clement is over the moon to have an ally.
Henri: "But, the classics really resonate with me."
Hahahaha! Clement, if only you could see your face!
Clement: "You've got to be kidding man... Seriously!? The classics?"
Henri: "Well yes. The classics. You know, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach..."
Clement: "I know who they are, thank you very much! How did it happen that you came to appreciate the classics in this lifetime? Why would you punish yourself like that?"
