*Shailene's POV*
Last night after Andrew left, I heard my phone chiming off. I saw the same number that I had forgotten to save in Vers' car earlier. Kendall. He was really sweet. He seemed so concerned about me. Who was Andrew to stop me from talking to people too, right?
I answered. 'Hello?'
'Shailene? I just called to see if you're alright.'He actually cared.
'Oh yes, I am. Thanks for asking. I apologise for what occurred earlier.'
'Yeah it's okay, it wasn't your fault. Your..uh..boyfriend is really....' He let is trail off.
So, I picked it up. 'Yeah, he's quite impatient.'
I saw Veronica perk up from her phone all of a sudden and looked at me, raising her eyebrows.
We only talked for five minutes when I decided that I had enough for one night. He was still talking. 'You know Shay, you remind me of someone, but I can't place it. You got real pretty eyes.'
Woah, he bats in wherever he could. 'Thanks Kendall, I really want to go sleep now. I've had enough for one night. You can try to figure out who I remind you of meanwhile.' I smiled even though he couldn't see it.
**Morning**
When I woke up, Veronica had already left. She left a note on the mirror saying 'I'll be back'. So I'm guessing that she'll be back later in the day.
I had almost fallen asleep after bathing and I just lay there.
Then I heard my father calling me from downstairs. 'Shay!' this was the second time and he was shouting.
'Coming!' I shouted back.
When I reached almost at the end of the staircase, he spoke out. 'Try not to fall again.'
'I almost forgot thanks.' I attempted to laugh. He stood in the middle of the living room, looking at me.
'Listen, what happened last night, I didn't know what I was doing. She's just so...wonderful, charming. Taking up time with her is taking my mind off things. I haven't tasted alcohol in a week. And, I like her a lot. She's the reason.'
Apparently having a daughter to look after wasn't enough. 'Yeah, but you're taking it real quick. Don't you think?'
'No, we just got carried away last night. It's a big people thing, I'm hoping you would understand.'
'Dad, you know, she's out to get your money. Look at this house. It's grand. She wants it.'
'Child, how could you think so shallow? She is a very nice lady. She's not out to get my money Shay. I'm happy since so long, and for you to think like this....' He shook his head.
I figured I'd have to think something through because he just wasn't going to believe me anyway. 'Okay dad, if that makes you happy.' I managed a smile and just happened to glance toward the window, where I saw Andrew...and Kendall.
They have got to be kidding right now. I also saw two cars parked in front. It was too late to pretend I didn't see anything outside. My father turned to witness the same thing I was.
*Kendall's POV*
I think Shay was getting a good side of me. She was starting to like me. At least, I thought she was. I had called her last night. I needed to make my 'interest' in her be known.
Just when I was about to leave my appartment to get to Shay's to ask her out for a walk to talk to her some more, my Batman 'batwave' ringtone filled my ears.
