~Lucas~

"Lucas Carter, put the gun down!" The sheriff yelled at me from across the bridge.

Rain was pouring down so much you could barely see let alone hear anything.

"Lucas, drop the gun and get down!" He yelled once again.

I turned from where I was standing, set the gun on the ground, and kicked it over to him. Raising my hands, showing that I surrendered, and slowly crouched down. It's now or never.

I quickly stood up, dashed to the railing of the bridge, and climbed onto it. Looking down at the rushing river, I knew that this was it. My last moment.

"You are going to hell for what you've done, Lucas Carter!"

I turned my head, looking at Sheriff Jackson and said," I've done everything I have been told. I have done everything I have needed to do to survive. I may be punished for what I have done, but I have no regrets." I turned back to face the river letting my eyes take in the last bit of beauty I will ever see.

Closing my eyes, taking my last breath, I spread my arms.

"LUCAS!"

I whipped my head around to see HER standing at the beginning of the bridge with a look of terror on her face.

"Sarah." I whisper knowing she can't hear me.

Right as I was about to run to her, I hear a gun shot and a stinging in my chest. I froze.

Looking down at my chest, and seeing a deep red soak my clothing. I raise my head and look at the man that has done the job.

"NO!" I hear my love scream.

My last sight was of her running to me. My last emotion was vacant. My last thought was ,"I swear, Darling. I will find a way."

And I fell to my death.

~Scarlett~

"Scarlett, sweetheart, William is here!" my mother shouted from the first floor.

"Coming ,mother!" I responded.

Putting on my black riding boots and grabbing my helmet, I walked down the stairs.

William is my horse riding trainer. He teaches me every Wednesday and Sunday.

"Good morning, William." I greeted politely.

"Good morning, Ms. James." He said bowing his head. "Shall we begin out lesson today?"

"Yes." I replied grinning.

Walking towards the door, William opened the door waiting for me to walk through. I politely thanked him and proceeded to the barn.

Waiting there, tied to a post, was my own personal horse, Blaze. He was a pure black stallion with a single white stripe along his nose, spine, and ends on his backside.

I pulled myself onto the saddle, gripped the reigns, fit my boots into the stirrups, and knocked my heels into Blaze's sides. All while leaving William in the barn.

Once Blaze and I got far enough front the barn, I slowed us down and unbuckled my helmet letting my hair loose. We rode around for hours upon hours, and before I knew it, it was sunset. I wanted to take a new route back to the house, so I went a little into the woods where I used to ride alongside my eldest brother, Damon. Damon served in the war since he was seventeen, he died at age twenty-two,and he would have been twenty-four this Friday.

I got to the spot I was hoping to run into. The flower meadow. I used to come here when I was a little girl just to get away and have a little freedom and not be suffocated by my mother and her high expectations of me.

Jumping off Blaze, I grabbed the reigns and led him to the center of the meadow where he could walk around freely and I could sit and gaze.

"Beautiful isn't it, Blaze?" I questioned knowing he won't talk back. I smiled to myself taking in everything around me. There was a blossom tree right in the middle of the meadow and a swing my brother made for me when I was fourteen.

The meadow was full of all kinds of flowers. There were vines and huge bushes guarding the meadow. Lilacs, roses, dandelions, a few sunflowers here and there, and my absolute favorite flower, Lilies. Vines wrapped themselves around the blossom tree and somehow vines wrapped themselves around the two ropes of my swing. Everything was so beautiful. Breath taking was the perfect description.

I swung for a few minutes, not caring about anything around me. I slowed my pace and scouted around for Blaze and saw him lying down a few feet away from me. Deciding it was getting late, I picked up my helmet and buckled it under my chin and started towards Blaze. Jumping onto the saddle, I began my way back to the barn.

Humming quietly to myself I saw a something or someone from the corner of my eye. I kept going trying to see if it would start again and I was right. It was someone. I kicked Blazes side signaling to go faster and we sped to the barn. I turned my head to look behind me and saw that I lost them. I arrived at the barn and slid off the saddle and took deep breaths attempting to slow my heart rate. I put Blaze back into the stall ,put up the equipment, fed and brushed him, then made my way home.

Walking to the house from the barn is precisely a five minute walk, so I had a little time to come up with why I was late. I was a few feet away from the fence guarding the house when I saw the body flash by again. I didn't want to take any chances so I ran into the house where I was hoping I was safe.
