My family is invited to the towns most popular party, and I am forced to attend. The only thing that happens each year at these parties are the women gossiping and men having an excuse to drink.

We were all over dressed for such a horrid excuse of a party. My mother had picked everything out for my younger,Kenneth, and myself. Kenneth had to wear brown slacks and a tucker in white shirt while I had to wear black slacks and a loose dark blue long sleeve.

My mother was very strict on our appearances. Everything needed to be perfect. Today, just for today, I agreed with her. There was someone there that I was hoping would also attend. Sarah Jackson.

We have been going to school together since we were toddlers, and I would like to say I have loved her since we were fourteen. She and I grew up together because her mother knew my own were best friend when they were younger.

Sarah and I spent almost every waking moment together. She was my best friend. I knew everything about her and she knew everything about me. We were inseparable.

Walking into the Clemons Mansion were the Mayor lives, my family parted ways except for Kenneth. He stuck by my side most of the night up until he saw his friends family and he left me by myself. I walked around for while too look for Sarah.

Around twenty minutes later, I still could not find her. I walked to the back corner and sat down at one of the tables and just decided to wait until we left later in the evening.

"Well, I am pleased to know you are as bored as I am." Said a sweet voice.

Turning around in my seat, I saw her. She was absolutely stunning. A pitch black lace gown clothes her body, black lace fingerless gloves hugged her wrists and she wore the ring I gave her when she turned sixteen last year. Remarkable she was.

"Bored does not even describe how I'm feeling. This is absolutely dreadful." I mumbled leaning my head on my propped up arm.

"Would you like to leave, Mr. Carter? I hear the party has only just begun." Sarah stated.

"I would love to leave, only if you will accompany me, of course." I said raising an eyebrow.

"My pleasure." She smiled.

I stood up and held my arm out to her, she immediately looped her arm through my own. We walked through the doors and just walked the streets of our small town, Elysium Spring.

"Where are going?" She asked curiously

"There is somewhere I want to show you. I have never shown anyone this and you have to promise you will not tell a soul of this places existence." I demanded.

She nodded her head while we walked towards my safe haven.

I just finished preparing myself for what's about to come. My mothers over planned and perfected party.
One year, I would just like to have a family birthday. No other people, no strangers, no one in the town except for my family and dearest friends.

But it seems like it would not happen for quite a while it seems.

Hearing my mothers voice call me from the first floor, I head down the stairs.

"And there she is." My mother says with the biggest and most fake smile I have ever seen in my life.

I look around and see mostly every person in this room has some sort of connection with to my parents. And I do not mean family connection, I mean work connection.
