You get out of your car, carrying a bag of groceries and a briefcase full of case documents. Busy with watching your step in fear of ruining your shoes, you miss the moment a dark figure emerges right in front of the main entrance to your building. "Excuse me, Miss, but I'll need you to come with me." A firm voice says and you slightly gasp.
"Who are you?" You back up into a wall, clutching your shopping bag close to your chest as a shield.
"Miss, Mr Fisk wants to have a few words with you and I need you to come with me right now." Francis replies, and when you think of running away, the other man comes to stand by your side, both wearing only dark costumes in this windy evening. You suddenly remember him - Marco.
"I'm busy, in case you haven't noticed." You glance at the camera on the building, filming every step of this scene.
"Miss, I will walk you to your flat." Marco says, much to Francis's annoyance. "No funny business."
His raised eyebrow makes you sigh, "Alright." It was best to go through this peacefully than wake up the whole building with screaming and trashing, especially when you knew that these two would easily pack you in their car as if it was nothing.
Francis goes to wait in the car and minutes later, you're walking outside with Marco holding your forearm tightly. He sits in the backseat, and you're allowed to sit in the front, next to Francis behind the wheel. Somehow, the passenger privileges did not give you much hope as to what was about to come. They didn't cover your eyes, and made you sit in the front, as if Fisk wanted you to know where he was residing. You can't keep silent and ask, "You two were close with James, weren't you?" looking straight ahead, watching the city lights go over your head.
They don't hurry to answer, and when you think that you're going to get ignored, Marco speaks up from the backseat, "He hired me." Your best guess was that he was holding a gun to your head behind that seat, in case of 'funny business'.
"I'm sorry... For the loss." You reply, folding your hands in your lap, "I'm not some heartless bitch, if you think I wasn't affected by this."
"Thank you, Miss." Marco answers again, and you begin to understand that he was the one closer to James, and Francis was closer to Fisk. Somehow, it all made perfect sense. The drive is short, and you don't recognize the place you're in. Soon, both men lead you to a huge living room, and you see Fisk sitting on one of the small sofas placed around a coffee table. The place looks modernistic, yet reeks off sickening luxury. You notice a couple of familiar paintings on the walls and recall seeing them in Vanessa's exhibition. Of course, you scoff to yourself.
Fisk clears his throat, noticing you looking around. "Nice, isn't it?"
You tear your eyes away from the interior of the place and meet Fisk's eyes. "What do you want?"
"Straight to the matter, my kind of person." Fisk stands up with an effort and offers you his hand to shake. You look at it, stretched over the clear glass table, with visible disgust, but don't move a single muscle. After another moment of hanging in the air, Fisk finally takes his hand back. "Alright. Please, sit down, I prepared some tea, if you want."
You look at the cup on your side, and don't even think of drinking whatever was in there, but take a seat. That's the least you allowed yourself to do here.
"Not very talkative today, right? I believe all these new clients are really tiring for such a small company." He notices the glint in your eyes, as if you wanted to ask a question. "Even a man, such as myself, allows himself to read the local newspaper sometimes. I've noticed you've become quite a star."
"Get over this, what do you want?" You clench your jaw tightly.
"I think that, and I speak for the majority of the public of this city, you and that Devil became quite a pair." He's testing the waters, pressing your buttons, in order for you to make a scene.
