The library held a special place in Clarke's heart. It's atmosphere, wrapped in a blanket of quiet, offered her some peace from the outside world. Words surrounded her, a comfort that rested within the walls with countless books. Clarke had an affinity for books, they were her escape, allowing her to dig herself in to their pages for hours. In the sea of literature, she found, if only for a brief moment, a safe haven.
Lexa was never a big reader, she didn't really do reading voluntarily.
Now would she do the girl doing reading voluntarily?
Oh absolutely.
Hence why she found herself in the, actually quite nice library, extremely quiet, the librarian was old and looked lethal, even though she barely looked able of hearing.
It had been two weeks since their interaction at the café. Strangely, Clarke hadn't fully shaken the meeting yet. She still thought back to the woman who foolishly spilled hot contents on her and then proceeded to be so mysterious, yet so unbelievably intriguing for some strange reason she couldn't put her finger on. It was seductive, in a way.
It was a simple task for Lexa, look her up on Facebook, find her blog linked in the bio, find her favorite reading place and take walks about five times a day trying to walk by and catch a glimpse of the familiar figure.
Then, walk inside, scroll the shelves and boom, the lion takes the bait.
Lexa's finger bounced off one book onto the other, she blew dust off a cover that seemingly hadn't been borrowed for a while and it opened with a small crack. 'The lost flowers of Alice Hart'.
It seemed interesting actually, even if the plan would fail she might actually take it home and read it, it was about a girl, who seems like a total mental case, growing up on a farm after lighting her dad on fire.
Misunderstood. That was a genre Lexa both enjoyed and kinned.
But of course, her plan didn't fail. She's Lexa.
"Excuse me?" A whisper seared through Lexa's ear, making the hairs in her neck prick up.
The corner of her mouth curled, she tried to refuse a grin, a feel of victory, but she couldn't.
"Mhm?" She looked up, trying to seem as oblivious as she could, planning their wedding day.
Not really... Maybe.
"Lexa?"
She really nailed the 'Oh! It's you, what's your name again??' look on her face before talking.
"Clarke!.. Right?" She smiled kindly.
"Yes!"
"HUSH!" The librarian shouted, taking the girls by surprise.
"Sorry" Lexa responded before smiling awkwardly at Clarke, causing them both a chuckle.
"I thought I recognized you, I didn't know you came here?" Clarke smiled as her voice got softer and quieter.
"Oh I don't, I just stopped by. I'm new in town" she nodded.
"Gosh I must seem like some stalker, sorry! I promise I'm not some creep, I just happen to remember you had a pretty neat taste in books."
Lexa laughed softly and looked down at the floor before meeting Clarke's gaze halfway up. "Yeah.. "
As if.
"Stay away from me" Lexa's gaze went cold.
Clarke was shocked, she swallowed hard.
...
"Kidding, obviously"
"Oh" Clarke shook her head and exhaled into a giggle.
"Yeah, I enjoy reading".
"That one is great" Clarke pointed towards the book in Lexa's hands.
"Really?"
"Yes, but this one is even better". Clarke handed the brunette a book out of her run-down, yellow-ish purse.
"A violent separation? Interesting."
"Do you have a card yet?" Clarke asked.
"A card?" Lexa scrunched her brows, it looked really really cute with the pout of her plush lips.
"A library card?" The blonde clarified.
"Oh.. No, I don't."
"Well.. I'm supposed to return this on the 5th, I was leaving it early. Think you can finish it in five days?"
"Heck yeah".
"Consider it on me then", Clarke winked.
"That's very kind of you, thank you so much". Lexa flipped through the pages with a content smile.
"My number is on the bookmark, you can keep it in there and call when you want me to return it for you."
...
This is your chance.
Come on.
Be
Bold.
"And do you mind if I ring for other purposes?" Lexa smirked.
Clarke raised her brows in surprise.
"Such as?"
"Taking you out, tonight?"
"Oh! I- Well.."
She was stuttering. Lexa turned her head.
"Yes, why not" Clarke smiled shruggishly.
"I'll make sure not to drop the bookmark, then".
"You better not, it's my favorite."
Okay so maybe Clarke wasn't totally delusional, maybe there was some sort of connection between them and her mind wasn't running 100x too fast. She felt her heart beating faster, she was really excited. How could someone she ran into twice, as a coincidence, for some reason feel so rare.
"HUSH!" the librarian, again.
"Okay, gotta run, I'll call you!" Lexa excused herself and hurried.
"Sounds good" Clarke laughed.
...
"Seriously, Thea?" Clarke rolled her eyes at the librarian.
"Hush!" she sighed.
