The smell of fried chicken and teenage workers' tears was prevalent in the KFC. Annie wore a pink short-sleeved crop top with low rise boot cut blue jeans while Mikasa wore black long sleeve shirt under a gray Green Day t-shirt with black ripped jeans. They order their drinks while waiting for the others. "You think they're going to show?" Mikasa said while taking a sip from her Sprite. "Most likely. They're probably just running late," said Annie as she fiddled with the paper left from her straw. Mikasa looked at what seemed to be a verbal altercation between two men outside the restaurant. They both looked odd, one with disturbingly blue eyes and one with dark long hair. Weird, she thought to herself.
After a couple of minutes, Armin and the other guy showed up. "Come on dude, it's not that bad!" Armin said while dragging the other into the restaurant by the arm. "Goddamn it Armin, this is ridiculous!" said a familiar voice. A very familiar voice. Annie turned around and waved over the two men. "Over here guys!". When Mikasa turned around, the color drained from her face. Looking back at her was someone with a bandage on his nose and that same long dark brown hair.
"Mikasa, this is Eren! Eren, this is Mikasa." Armin said.
~*~ ☠︎︎~*~
Annie and Armin were engaged in a conversation, something about an 80s movie. Eren and Mikasa were engaged in a tense and mildly disturbing staring contest. "I personally think that 'Halloween' is the best slasher movie though," Annie said while munching on a fry. "Even though 'Scream' had one of the funniest killers ever." "Yeah, 'Halloween' wasn't too shabby. What do you guys think?" Armin asked the other two. Neither Mikasa or Eren responded for a while until Eren said, "I thought 'The Exorcist" was good." Mikasa rolled her eyes and said, "If you're hella religious it's good. 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is better."
"It's only good if you like seeing people get ripped in half."
"Aren't horror movies supposed to be scary?"
"There's a difference between horror and just plain gore."
"Tell me the difference then."
Annie could sense a fight, so she tried to change the subject as fast as possible. "Mikasa, you like My Chemical Romance right? Eren, what's your favorite band?" said Annie. "Slipknot, I guess," he shrugged. Mikasa gave him a harsh side-eye while biting into a chicken leg. Of course he listened to Slipknot. Look at him! He was wearing a blood red hoodie over a black jacket with baggy jeans. He looked homeless, Mikasa thought.
After the dinner, Annie went with Armin to go back to his place. Eren sat shotgun while Mikasa drove him to his apartment. They sat in silence while Kurt Cobain sang "Something in the Way".
When they got to the red light, Eren turned over to Mikasa and said, "You know I didn't mean that stuff I said about your mom right?" Mikasa's knuckles turned white as she gripped the wheel. She could sure as hell punch him again. When the light turned green, she took a hard right and sped off. "Jesus Christ, slow down!" Eren shouted over the revving of the car. "You're going to miss my stop!". Mikasa pulled over to the nearest curb and shut off the music. She breathed in...and she breathed out. She pulled off the curb and continued driving. "Just...take left at the next turn."
