Chapter 9

"You should've told me!"

Narito ako sa kwarto ni Amanda. It wasn't that long since I left her brother's room.

Nakakahiya. I was judging him in my mind for being bitter yun pala ay may dahilan kaya siya nagagalit.

I almost embarrassed myself there.

He's much more uptight now that he learned about their cousin's situation. Sakaniya iniwan ang mga babae kaya ngayon na nalusutan siya ay ang sarili ang sinisisi.

"Why would I? It isn't my problem. Labas ako— kami doon. Bakit ba pati ako ay idinadamay niya sa problema nung magkapatid?" Palatak ni Amanda.

She's breathing heavily, even her dace is red. Masama ang loob sa kapatid. Hindi ko alam kung ano ba dapat ang sasabihin ko. I am shocked with what I have learned.

Hindi ko naman akalain na ganito pala kaseryoso.

"Wala nga akong maging boyfriend kasi lahat tinatakot niya."

Tango lang ang naisasagot ko.

Ang sabi ni Armando, ang nakabuntis daw kay Fralisca ay ang boyfriend ng nakababatang kapatid ng babae, si Vittoria.

How the hell that happened?

Idagdag pa na menor de edad daw ang lalaki. The family wanted to have custody of the unborn child as they accused Fralisca of attempting to abort the baby.

How messed up this situation is.

"He's just afraid if that would happen to you." Tanging nasabi ko sa haba ng pag-iisip.

I gulped.

Parang hindi ko rin kaya kung kay Amanda mangyayari 'yon. I can't even think of it. She have dreams to achieve still.

"Seriously?" She sneered.

I didn't dare muttering what's in my mind. It was uncalled for... I knew Fralisca. She's a good woman. I haven't heard people bad mouthing the poor woman ever since she became the provincial youth president. Isa pa at nursing student rin. Ang rinig ko ay dahil gusto nga daw makatulong sa mga tao.

Is this even true?

"How did that happened anyway?" I asked, still in disbelief.

"I don't know! I told you, hindi ko pinakikialaman ang buhay nila. I have my own life to live. Like I care with theirs?" She spat frustratedly.

Frustrated. That would describe her feelings. I wouldn't say she's angry. Hindi ganoon ang pagkakakilala ko kay Amanda. She's the sweetest I knew. Alam kong hindi niya kayang magalit sa mga pinsan niya at lalo na sa kapatid niya. She must've be so frustrated about the situation they're in that's why she's acting like this.

"I don't even know why Kuya Mando's shouldering all the consequences. Those two has parents, they are the one who neglect their childrens. Kaya ngayong nabuntis ay bakit si Kuya ang sinisisi?"  Bulalas ng babae.

"Bakit? Si Kuya ba ang bumuntis?!" She exclaimed.

I tried my best not to be caught with the situation. Natatawa man ay pinilit kong magseryso. Pag ganitong galit siya ay kung ano ano talaga ang lumalabas sa bibig niya.

Nilapitan ko siya para haplusin ang likod.

I am afraid we have the same thoughts.

The sisters were put here in Felicidad as their parents live their extravagant life in New York. Forgetting that they have children who they left here, ang bata pa nung dalawa nung iwan dito.

It would be unfair if it is true that Armando is the one getting blamed for all this that happened. Hindi na niya sakop ito.

"Dad was mad!" Amanda as she struggles to stay calm.
