Chapter Eleven:

Tristan’s POV:

After the celebration, we kept on examining were the message came from and other stuff like that. They lend me the big device so that I could do my thing. All I did was press random buttons, but at the beat of the Invader Zim theme song. I don’t know if that changed anything, but the important thing is: I achieved something!

Alahya kept telling me to think before I acted. In my new life, thinking too much would be a waste of time. However, doing without thinking was helping me achieve lots of things. So, did I listen to her? No. I mean, sure she’s my girlfriend, but she has her way and I have mine.

Well, at least I think so…

I was pushing random buttons, but using a thinking face so that she wouldn’t notice. She looked like if she was buying it. Hehe, yes! My plan was working now smoothly. She was examining closely what I did. I was making a rhythm in my head. The beeping sounds every time I pressed them made the rhythm even more awesome.

Beep beep, bop bop, beep…

The sounds were gonna make me laugh sooner or later, but if I did so, she would probably think I’m not taking this seriously. Well, I wasn’t. But, if the scary woman saw me laughing, she would probably get mad and suspicious.

Did I seriously think that we would find something?!

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.

What the heck?

The woman was suddenly standing on my side and was checking the screen. She was pushing some buttons and then looked at the screen again. The screen now looked like some sort of map. It had lots of dots and a big one in the center. I’m guessing that one is Earth. One of the other dots was moving around it. That was the moon, I think. But, there was another one moving around it. A much smaller one colored in red.

“Code red.” She whispered to herself. What was ‘code red’?! She then told another worker the code and he ran towards a room and disappeared. Ok, I’m so lost.

“What’s code red?” Alahya asked me.

“I have no idea.” I told her and she nodded.

“What is code red?” she asked the woman.

“Code red means red alert.” Yeah, well that made a difference. Way to explain to us.

“And red alert means…?” her innocent voice asked through the people’s typing and running.

“It means we have discovered something coming towards the planet.” We both let an ‘ah’ get out of out mouths.

But, as they kept running and looking for files, the beeping stopped. When it did, everyone looked towards the screen. The red dot was gone now. The woman was paralyzed there and had her mouth wide open. I heard her whisper something to herself. It sounded like a bad word: as others did, too. I sighed and looked at Alahya. She was just as upset as I was. She turned to me and gave me a sad smile.

I then turned to the screen and got confused. Why would it disappear that fast?

“Stupid, freaking, idiotic you!” The woman was now throwing the papers she had in her hands and started to stomp them. “I cannot believe this!” she yelled frustrated while the others just went back to their seats and started typing.

I then went to the woman and patted her shoulder, she immediately looked at me with anger and disgust. Ok, ok! Sheesh! I then went back towards Al. I haven’t heard anything from her.
