Chapter Fifteen:

Tristan's POV:

When they left, everything seemed to un-freeze. It was like if all the time I wasted with the aliens, time had frozen. And when they left, it unfroze. It was so awesome! Once they were gone, Alahya woke up and everything was back to normal...

"So you don't remember anything?!" I asked in disbelief.

"What are you talking about?! I fainted when we finished searching for them." She explained. How come she not remember?!

"No! You fainted when they entered." I corrected. She looked at me in disbelief. I was getting so frustrated!

"No I didn't! They didn't even come!" She argued. I was beginning to get tired of this discussion. In fact, I wanted this to end!

"Fine, don't believe me. But when they come back, I won't let you know. Also, I won't let you see anything. Yeah, you heard me! NOTHING!" I warned her. She froze and then thought. A few seconds passed before she answered.

"Fine, I believe you! Now, can you please promise that you'll let me know?" I sighed.

"I'll think about it." I said in a given up voice. She smiled and then hugged me. We were still in the lab. Which made me wonder: where was everyone -?

Click clock. Click clock.

The sound that echoed through the room was familiar. I turned to see what was causing it. Turned out I was right. It was familiar. And it came from the lady that we met in Arecibo.

"Well, well, well." She said in a calm voice. "You may be wondering where is the rest of the people. Well, they all claim to have woken up this morning. But none of them could go out of their houses. The doors were locked."

"How so?" Alahya asked curiously.

"No one knows. But, since you were the only two that showed up, we have you as suspects." She explained. We both got shocked.

"What?!" We said in unison.

"But we didn't do anything!" Al claimed.

"That's what you say. Are there any witnesses?"

"Do I count as a witness?" I asked raising my hand. Al nudged me with her elbow and the lady continued.

"No, Mr. Castillo, you do not count as a witness, because you're one too." She explained.

"But, Miss, we weren't even close to their houses. Better yet, we don't even know where they live!" Al explained to the irritating lady.

"I'm sorry, but life isn't fair." She then turned away. But an idea came to mind.

"Why did you come over here?" I ask. Yes, it sounds silly, but I don't trust her.

"Didn't I just tell you?" She asked in a 'DUH' tone.

"Well, you've come a long way and, well, we're just 'irresponsible teenagers'." I said; she rolled her eyes.

"You finally admit it?"

"Don't change the subject, ma'am." I warned her.

"I came here to inform you."

"Is there anything else you have to inform us?" I asked curiously. She stood there thoughtfully.

"Yes. Yes I do." She admitted. I gestured her to go on. She took a deep breath and continued. "We, uh, decided to let this one go. They think that the possibilities of you, kids, doing all that in just a matter of minutes are quite low. Plus, our recorder tracker informs us that you didn't leave the hotel until 6:01. We were sure about it because you would never leave without the recorder." She gestured at me. "And, since the normal workers wake up at 5:00 and get out at 5:30, you guys wouldn't have been responsible for this mess." She explained. My lips were forming a smirk.
