As soon as Collette arrived in her room, she sat down on her bed. She didn't know how to feel. She didn't know what to think nor what to do. All she could think about was Colton and the figure she couldn't escape. Long before this figure had shown up, Colton and Collette would go for walks in the beautiful pink tulip garden and just talk to each other.
Although Colton is so much older than Collette, it never bothered her. Collette knew who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, she just didn't know how to tell him. They would hold hands, give each other kisses on the cheek. She told him everything knowing that he is her comfort. Her home, her safe space.A few moments later she heard a knock on the door. 'Come in..' Colton stepped into her room and closed the door. He sat down on her bed picking up her hand and holding it. "What's wrong my dear Collette? You know you can tell me anything and everything"
"Colton...How do I even begin to tell you what's going on in my head?"
Colton stared at her for a moment before answering.
"Just start where you feel most comfortable, What's been going on Colette?"
She stares as him thinking what to say,or how to begin saying it.
"Colton... I'm in love with you, Platonically. I feel every little thing you feel, even if you don't notice it. I want to spend every little moment with you, I want to know every thing about you."
Colton stared at her, he didn't even know how to respond to her. He got up and walked out. She looked out of the window wondering what she said that made him upset. She stood up and went to the bathroom to splash her face with cold water. She walked out of the bathroom and went to lay down. After a few moments she fell asleep. She woke up, everything was shaded in a blue colour filling the air. She thought 'How odd?' She got out of her room wandering the halls of the ward. Searching for a soul, but no one was found. She went to the reception and got her cigarettes. As she walked through the front door she saw Colton standing where she would usually sit to look around and wander around in her thoughts... getting lost in them. She walked over to another table, the view just as pretty as usual no matter where she sat down. Although the spot she usually sat in comforted her. She sat down, looking at Colton just staring off into the distance. She didn't talk to him. There was so much awkward tension between them that she couldn't care to ask him what he thought. She opened her cigarettes, took one out and lit it. She stared at the smoke, she had just blew out in the blue coloured air.Still she was ignoring Colton. After a few minutes of the tension, Colton wandered off into the garden. In wonder Collette followed him. The pretty pink tulips and Willow tree garden. It's the pathway they usually chose to walk together. She felt a weird comfort in walking this pathway.
This pathway was breathtaking and beautiful in every little possible way you could imagine. The view was astonishing.
After a few seconds Collette had lost Colton. She started jogging to catch up,but every turn he took was too fast for her to catch up. She started running, but she couldn't reach him.Eventually the pathway had ended. At the end of the pathway was a bench to admire the pretty view. Colton was nowhere to be seen. She looked around wondering where he had gone. She walked down to the bench and sat down. A few moments later she felt a warmth next to her. She looked beside her, low and behold. The figure has fooled her once again. This time she wasn't even scared. She stared at it for a moment before asking 'What is it that you want? If you want my soul, you can have it. I have no reason to carry on living if he doesn't even acknowledge me.' the figure turned to her, lifted it's hand and held her cheek. It answered 'My dear, you are far too young to die. I will protect your soul against the cruelty of the world.' She turned away, staring into the distance. In moments she woke up.
She sat up in her bed. The room was dark. She slept the day away...again.
She got up and walked out of her room.
She was looking for Coltons room. When she found it she stood in front of it, wondering if she should knock or just stay up all night and talk to him in the morning.Doubting whether she should do it or not,she caved in. She backed away from the door and sat down next to it. Sooner or later she fell asleep next to his door. She woke up in her bed the next morning. She wondered how she had got there. She got up and walked out of her room and went to the cafeteria.
She saw Colton, sitting in his usual spot. She walked over to him and sat down next to him. The silence between them was loud. 'Why have you been ignoring me Colton? I've been honest with you since day one. Why are things changing now since you know how I actually feel about you?' he stopped what he was doing and looked at her. 'I haven't ignored you, I've been searching the correct words to tell you how I feel but no words could explain it.' She looked into his eyes. 'Just tell me. You know you can tell me. Just try and explain it to me.' Colton stood up and started walking towards the door to the garden. She stood up and followed him outside. He went to sit down on the bench Collette usually sits when she smokes.Collette hadn't had a cigarette in a while. Maybe it's a good thing. She can't just always drown her sorrows and hurt in a thing that's slowly killing you. The smoke had filled her lungs for far too long.
'Colton, explain everything to me. You know I'll go insane if you ever stop talking to me. Tell me what's going on.'
He took a while before responding to Collette.
'Collette... You know how I feel about this. I'm not ready to get into something-' she cuts him of. 'I never said I wanted to be with you. I just simply told you how I felt and simply, you just looked past it.' He turns away not knowing what to say.
He stood up and went back inside.
She tried to resist the urge to not go inside and get her cigarettes. She didn't. She refused to. She will no longer let smoke fill her lungs. From now on forth she will face her problems. She will no longer deal with drowning in her sorrows of a way to cope. That's no way to live.
