Chapter Nine : The Warlock

Later that evening . . .

At Gabe Asher's apartment, after Gabe casually revealed himself as Cody Asher's son, he used some sort of magical powers to knock out Jonny unconscious onto the carpet floor.

Gabe and I exchange tense looks at each other.

"You're Cody Asher's son? He never mentioned he has a son?" I said.

"Yeah, well, my dear old Dad, doesn't quite talk about me." Gabe spoke in his British accent and changes his eyes back to normal. "I do resemble him a little."

"How do you know me?" I asked Gabe.

"You're Violet Benton, how can anyone not know of you?" Gabe Asher said to me with a really expression on his face.

I look at an unconscious Jonny laying on the carpet floor.

"He's gonna be alright, my spell knocked him out unconscious for a little while." said Gabe.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I just told you." Gabe told me, pouring himself a small drinking glass of rum.

"That's not what I meant." I said to him.

"You're pondering about my magical powers. Well, I'm a warlock." Gabe told me, taking a small sip of his rum. "And no, my Dad did not tell me about you, I'm still figuring you out for myself."

"What do you want?" I asked him.

"I don't want anything, just to be left alone." Gabe said, and snaps his fingers.

And Jonny regains his conscious and stirs awake. I crouch down to him and gently helps him sit up straight.

"What the hell did you do to me?" Jonny asked Gabe.

"I knocked you out unconscious for a few minutes." Gabe told him. "You two can leave now."

Jonny and I exchange looks at each other as we both slowly gets up to our feet and walks away.

JENSON HOME

That night, Cherry thought it was a good idea to have a party at the guest house.

So, I am here, sitting atop of the kitchen countertop with my red party cup of margarita.

Jonny slowly walks up to me with his own red party cup of margarita and gently leans backwards against the kitchen countertop.

"Cody Asher has a son? Big shocker." Jonny said to me, taking a small sip of his margarita.

"Yeah, I know, and plus, he's a warlock." I said to him.

"And who knows how strong he is with his warlock magical powers and what damage he can do with the snap of his fingers." Jonny said to me. "Does Cody know that his son, Gabe, is here in Arrington?"

"I don't know, maybe, he does." I replied, taking a small sip of my margarita.

"Hey, you guys." Jessy greeted both Jonny and Me.

"Hey, Jess." Jonny and I greeted Jessy in unison.

"I wanna dance, Violet." Jessy said, gently pulls me off the kitchen countertop by my hand and we walks to the middle of the carpet floor and dances.

Cherry, Sonya, Ava and Christine Avery joins Jessy and Me and we dance along to the song, enjoying the rest of the party.

HARPER HOME

Later that night, in Jonny's bedroom, he and I are laying in bed, shirtless, wearing his boxer briefs and my Natori feathers bra and undies, with the plaid bedcover covering my torso and lower half of my body and his lower half of his body.

I'm laying in front of him and he's laying behind me with his arm gently on my waist.

"Why can't we be happy?" I asked him.

"We can be, Vinny. Just don't give up." Jonny said to me.

"I won't." I said to him.

Jonny gently holds me close to him and gently interlocks his fingers with mine.

ARRINGTON ASYLUM

The next afternoon, I'm sitting at a visiting telephone booth, waiting for Cody Asher.

An asylum security guard escorts Cody Asher into the visiting telephone booth.

Cody Asher is wearing a gray scrub and sits down across from me. He and I both gently takes a telephone.

"Let me guess, you've encountered my son, Gabe Asher? That is why you have come to visit me, Miss. Benton?" Cody spoke on the telephone in his Australian accent.

"I have. Gabe is a warlock." I said to him.

"I performed a ritual on him. I trained him with his magical warlock powers." Cody told me. "And as long as you leave him alone, and one of your idiotic best friends doesn't bother him, he will not retaliate."

"First, it was Eleanor Reese, and then, you, and now, Gabe Asher." I told him.

"I know that you want this nonsense to be over so, you can be happily ever after, but this is Arrington, nothing is "happily ever after", you know it, and so do I." Cody told me with a stern expression on his face. "Have a good rest of your day, Violet."

Cody hangs up his telephone and gets up, walking away. I hang up my telephone and gets up, walking away.

TAVERN BODGE DIVE BAR AND LOUNGE CLUBHOUSE

That evening, I'm sitting at a lounge table with my bottle of cider. My older sister, Boni, sits down across from me.

"Haven't seen you in a while." said Boni, with a plastic bowl of cheese cubes. "How've you been?"

"Pretty good." I replied, taking another sip of my cider. "It's like I'm stuck in a maze, I can go left or right, but I don't know what direction to go."

"What is it this time?" Boni asked.

"Cody Asher's son, Gabe Asher." I told her.

Which shocks Boni. "Cody Asher has a son?"

"Yeah, and according to Cody, Cody himself, performed a ritual on Gabe, turning him into a warlock." I told her. "What the hell are we gonna do?"

"Don't know, Violanthe." Boni said to me.

Boni and I exchange concerned looks at each other. I gently takes a cheese cube and eats it.
