Archit
College was a place I feared even more than hell afterall that place was the reason behind my nickname
Manwh*re.Today was my graduation ceremony. Ofcourse baba didn't attend it.
After the completion of the ceremony I could see the other students hugging their parents and laughing with them, touching their feet to take their blessings, I could only wish for a moment so precious. I was standing there all alone with my diploma, without a single person by my side.
I decided to go home as I felt uncomfortable staying here. I started walking towards the exit.
I could feel everybody's stare on me as I made my way towards the exit. I could hear them whispering about me, gossiping about how I was a characterless person.
I choose to ignore everybody and came out of the building. While walking home I started remembering how everything started, how these baseless rumours and gossips came to be.
It was my first day in college.
I kept trying to search for my class looking like a lost puppy, that was when I first met her.She was a senior. She helped me look for my class, that was how I met her.We started talking and slowly became really good friends.
she seemed to be really sweet just as sweet as her name
Mishti. We were just friends in the beginning, but little by little I started falling in love with her. How could I not when she was the sweetest, nicest and kindest person alive on the Earth.
She always took care of me, always stayed beside me. Whenever something went wrong I always went to her for moral support. She was the only person with whom I was comfortable enough to share everything.
Maybe I fell in love with her because she made me feel wanted. Maybe my loneliness and her friendliness made us grow closer and maybe that was the reason I fell in love with her.
Maybe I loved her because I didnot have any other person with whom I could share all the boring incidents of my life, infront of whom I could cry and not be mocked as a crybaby or told to 'just grow up', who would listen to all my rants about Baba without judging me or declaring that I was just a spoiled prince or a bad son.
But I never had the courage to propose her. The fear of rejection, the fear of our friendship coming to an end always stopped me from expressing my feelings.
For the first few months I only hanged out with her but then she introduced me to her friend group, they seemed to be really sweet and were very friendly.
I thought that maybe after being lonely for almost my whole life I finally found the people who cared about me, people whom I could cherish.
Little did I know that I would be proved wrong really quick and that my life would turn upside down just because of one wrong step.

The room was devoid of any kind of noise. I looked at my plate which was still full, I hadn't taken a single bite. I don't know why, but I just didnot feel like eating. Perhaps I wasn't hungry or maybe I was angry with Baba. To be honest I was still a little upset that he couldn't make it to my graduation and instead of apologising to me he kept making excuses about how he had an important meeting, how he was busy with work. "Archit try to understand I had some important work. As the CEO of the company, I cannot afford to waste even a single second." That was what he said when I confronted him after coming home. My graduation was nothing but a time waste to him. Why did I even expect him to attend? He probably doesn't even remember my birthday or how old I am going to be next year. He doesn't even care about me.
"Archit." Baba called my name in a soft voice, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?." I answered in a confused tone.
"Your food is getting cold, eat it." Baba said, pointing towards my plate.
"Ami are khabo na." I whined.
[Translation: I don't want to eat.]
"Archit, don't behave like a child. Eat it." Baba said, this time he sounded a little annoyed.
I stayed silent.
" Archit you should listen to what I say." Baba said in an irritated manner.
"Why should I listen to you?" I snapped at him.
Baba didn't say anything. He just stared at my face. For a few seconds there was an awkward silence between us.
"Archit, are you still upset because I didn't attend your graduation?" Baba asked, sounding disappointed.
"N-No. Not a-at all." I answered while trying my best not to stutter.
"You are upset, isn't it?" Baba said with a smirk.
"You don't even care about me. You didn't even attend my graduation. Y-You are very bad." I immediately regretted saying that."Look at you, throwing a tantrum and whining like a toddler just because I didn't attend your graduation." Baba said in a mocking tone.
I couldn't answer his question. I just looked down in an attempt to hide my face which was now red from embarrassment. Baba sighed at my behaviour.
"Look I couldn't attend because I was busy wi-" Baba stopped midway when he saw tears rolling down my cheek.
"Arc-" before he could say anything I got up from my seat and ran out of the room.
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" I heard him scream at the top of his lungs.I got out of my house and started walking. I didn't know where to go. I just walked and walked while sobbing lightly. I was roaming around the busy streets of Kolkata which were lively even during the night. After walking for a while I went to my secret hide out which was the bank of the hooghly river. The place was quiet and isolated which was exactly what I needed, alone time at a quiet place. I sat near the bank of the river to admire its beauty. The river was glistening under the moonlight. The sound of the fireflies were soothing to hear. I started crying as no one was there to judge me. After crying my eyes out my heart felt light. I no longer felt angry or upset. I felt calm. After awhile I got up and started walking home. I no longer felt angry or upset. I was busy in my own world when I heard something.
I looked around to see what it was.
