Archit

I looked around to see what it was.

It was a woman and a man, they still hadn't noticed me. The man looked drunk. He had short, dark hair and an unpleasant expression. He was dressed in a white shirt and black jeans, he looked like he was in his early-mid 30s. The woman on the other hand had jet black, wavy hair which came upto her shoulders and was wearing a pink coloured churidar. I couldnot see her face as her back was turned towards me. But I could hear her voice, it was a little husky.

"Leave me alone." I heard her shout at the man.
"What if I don't?" Saying that the man the gripped her hand tightly.
Oh sh*t he's harassing her. What should I do? I thought to myself. I looked around. There was no one except for me, the man and the woman. The place was completely isolated. I gulped in fear not knowing what to do.
"Leave me." The woman struggled in his grip.
"Shut up b*tch." The man raised his hand while the woman shut her eyes close.
"HEY YOU." I shouted at the man, which seemed to startle him. I went near them and stood beside the woman. The woman slowly opened her eyes. Taking my specs off I hung them on my shirt like a bollywood hero.

"Why are you harassing her?" I asked the man, towering over him while trying to look confident.
"Who are you? Her boyfriend?" The man asked in a confused tone.
"Wh-who I am doesn't matter. Why were you harassing her?" Flustered, I replied.
"Look brother, it is better for you to leave." The man looked annoyed.
"I won't leave until you leave her alone. You shouldnot harass someone." I said trying to shield the woman away from him. The man was now standing like a statue.
I must have scared him I thought to myself. Just then I felt something hard on my face, I fell backwards and my a** hit the ground. I realised that the man had punched me.
"B*stard." He said in an angry tone and proceeded to kick me in my stomach making me hiss in pain.
"Kochi chele herogiri dekhache. Jottoshob." Thankfully the man walked away after saying that.
[Translation: The little boy is trying to be a hero. Whatever.]
I felt embarrassed, I had just got beaten up while trying to save someone. I hung my head low in shame and closed my eyes while tears rolled down my cheek. I really was useless, I really was a good for nothing idiot. I kept mentally cursing myself out. Just then I heard the woman's voice.

"Are you okay?" The woman asked while extending her hand towards me. Her voice felt like honey to my ears.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I somehow managed to utter it in between my hiccups and sobs while I took her hand and she pulled me upwards. I got up from the ground with her help. I looked up from the ground and our eyes meet. Absolutely stunning I thought to myself. Her eyes were beautiful, they were the colour of honey and were big and round, her nose was sharp like a Roman's, her complexion reminded me of caramel, she was tall and came upto my shoulders, her dusty pink lips were plump, her hair reminded me of the sea waves. She gave off a mature and intimidating vibe.

"Umm." The woman said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
I realised that I had been staring at her since the past few minutes. I blushed and bowed my head down.
"Thank you mam." I said in a low voice, thanking her for helping me get up.
"I should be the one saying this." She said with a serious look on her face.
"Are you hurt anywhere mam?" I asked while looking down at my feet.
"Are you speaking to the ground?" The woman said making me look up.
"You should maintain eye contact while speaking with someone." Saying this the woman turned around and walked away.

Cold. I thought to myself.

I stared at the floor as I didnot have the courage to look at Baba. I could feel him glaring daggers at me. I mentally cursed myself for running away like that. I closed my eyes, praying to God to save me.

"God isn't going to save you today Archit." Baba said in a stern tone.
I gulped in fear. Is this man a mind reader? I thought to myself.
"Running away crying just because your father scolded you. Archit, what you did today was unacceptable." Baba sounded pissed off.
"WHAT ARE YOU? A CHILD?" He shouted making me flinch.
The room was still silent as I did not have the courage to utter even a single word.
"DON'T KEEP STANDING THERE LIKE A CLOWN. ANSWER ME."
I didn't say anything, just kept staring at the floor.
"ARCHIT."
"Sorry Baba." I finally managed to say something. "I-I won't do it again. I will never do it again."
"Archit, you need to grow up." Baba said while trying to calm down.
"You are clearly still too immature." Baba said, he sounded disappointed.
I stayed silent. I just kept staring at the floor, I felt a little embarrassed with my actions. I'll admit that I did behave immaturely.

"So, what are your plans for the future?" Baba asked, this time with concern in his voice.
"I-I still haven't decided anything." I answered him.
"How old were you again?" Baba questioned me. Did he forget my age? I thought to myself
"Twenty one." I answered, confused.
"Twenty one and still confused. You are hopeless. Neither were you a bright student nor are you good at sports or any other thing. All you do is sit in your room all day while surfing through your phone." Baba was practically roasting me.
"You are not even good at socialising. You know nothing about how the outside world works. The only thing you have achieved so far is being born with a golden spoon. Plus you have a fabulous reputation as a manwh*re. You really are useless." Baba continued to roast me.

"Your future looks very bright and hopeful you good for nothing idiot." Baba said sarcastically.
"Look, you are too stupid to inherit my company." Ouch, that hurt, I may need to apply some ice later.
"I know that you will end up making us homeless with your 'intelligence' if you ever inherit it." He said while stressing on the intelligence part.
"You don't have to be so harsh on me." I said with a pout.
"You don't have to be so harsh on me." Baba said in a high pitched tone mimicking me.
I just stared down at my feet. What Baba said was true. I really had no idea about how the world worked, I really was not a bright student, I was not even good at anything else, I was socially awkward and anxious. The only achievement I had really was being born rich.
Suddenly Baba cleared his throat which caused me to come out of my thoughts.
"Archit." Baba said grabbing my attention.

"I have already arranged your marriage."
