He Has My Heart

{Chapter Four}

Hallie looked at Jordan. And then looked at the menu. Jordan. Menu. Jordan.

"Hallie, stop looking back and forth." He chuckles.

"I..."

"Pick anything you want." Jordan smiles at Hallie, then goes up to the cashier to order.

"I would like a three scoop strawberry ice cream cone, please." The lady behind the counter nods, and gets an ice cream cone ready, along with the trusty scooper.

"And my friend would like..." Jordan gestured for Hallie to order.

"A two scoop vanilla ice cream cone with sprinkles, please." Hallie said. After that, she looked down to twiddle her fingers.

The two orders arrived. "That would be six dollars for both," the lady murmured dully.

Jordan begin to pull his wallet out of his pocket.

"Jordan, you don't have to pay-"

"Yes, I do. It's my treat." Jordan interrupted. He got out a five and one dollar bills and gave them to the cashier.

"Thank you very much, here are your ice cream cones." She handed the strawberry one to Jordan, and the mango one to Hallie.

"We should go to the park next to here, Hallie." he grabs Hallie's hand, licks his ice cream, and both Hallie and Jordan go outside to the park.

It seems that most of the birds that were pecking at the crumbs have flied away. Oh well.

Jordan led Hallie to sit down on a bench. They watched kids play basketball as they chatted.

"So, Hallie...Do you have any family?" Jordan asked, before licking his ice cream once again.

"Well, yeah, but they're in Virginia right now."

"Why did you move here?"

"To get a job, and other things, I suppose." Hallie licked her vanilla ice cream goodness. The taste of the colorful rainbow sprinkles melted in her mouth.

Jordan nodded, and they both ate their ice cream cones until the young kids were done playing basketball.

"Should we go...?" Hallie asked.

"No, not yet. Just one more place."

"Jordan..." Hallie glanced at her watch. One thirty-two.
