Barney's Burgers

The birds were chirping, trees are dancing in the wind. Yup, sounds like nature. Barney was taking out the trash and heads back inside. He didn't know someone was watching him. He starts talking to some customers and starts some small talk.

A young girl quietly walks in. She was wearing a hospital gown and had a buzz cut. Her hair,or what was her hair, was blonde. Her eyes were like emeralds, but were filled with fear and trauma. She finds the door to the kitchen and silently opens it. No one even noticed.

She spots a small tray of fries sitting on the counter top. She goes over and starts eating it.

"Oi!" A customer points at the young girl. Barney turns around.

"HEY!!!" He shouts. The girl runs out the door. "HEY!!!" Barney chases after her. "Get back here!!!!" He grabs her shirt. "Think you can get away from me, boy?!" She turns around and Barney looks at her with pure confusion and shock. "What the...?" The girl looked so pale. Like she hadn't eaten in days. "Dang... Kid are you all right?" She just stared at him without a word. Barney takes her hand gently and leads her to a table. "Wait here, I'll get you some food." He enters the kitchen, leaving the young girl alone.

He comes back out with a burger and places it in front of the girl. She starts to dig in quickly, but slow enough that she doesn't choke.

"Heh. So... Parents forget to feed ya?" No answer. "Are you okay? You in trouble?" He sighs. "Okay, no food until you talk." He takes his hand out. "I'm Barney. And you are?" The girl stays silent. Barney notices something on her wrist. "Z?" She pulls her arm away. "Is that your name? Z?" She doesn't respond. "Okay, I guess no food..." He started to take away the tray.

"Z..." She says quietly.

"Yeah..? What is it?" He sits back down with the tray in hand. She just points to herself. "Okay... here." He gives the tray back. "Not much of a talker, are ya?" He chuckles.

Barney was washing dishes in the kitchen as Z eats her food. The fan starts making a lot of noise. Z stares at it and it suddenly turns off. Barney looks at Z then the fan. He shrugs it off and assumed it just got unplugged somehow. Z continued to eat her burger as well as Barney kept washing dishes.

"Yeah... Anyways... She might be a missing kid or something..."

Barney and Z were both in the kitchen as she was eating ice cream. He turns to her and breaks the silence between them.

"You really like that, huh?" He chuckled softly. Z gives him a soft smile. "That smile looks good on you, kid." He looks back at her, she seemed confused. "You know, smile?" He smiles brightly at her. She smiles back at him. The moment was unfortunately ruined by a knock at the door. "Wait here, I'll tell 'em to go away." Z silently watched as he heads to the door.

Barney opened the door to see a woman wearing a red coat. She had beautiful black hair and red eyes. She had a notebook in hand and a pencil.

"Hello!" She beamed at him.

"Hi ma'am, I'm terribly sorry but we're closed right now so why don't you try again tomorrow, okay?"

"I'm the one you called on the phone 3 hours ago."

"Oh! Then please, come in!" He gestures for her to come inside.

"Where is she?" She looks around the room.

"She's in the kitchen, follow me-"

Z looks around. They were here. She heard footsteps and ran. She ran as far as she could. Anywhere away from them.

They run to the doors and find two men already killed. They run outside searching for Z. She was nowhere to be found.

Maybe?
