We pulled up the long circle drive with a fountain in the middle. The beach house looked so pretty at night with all the spotlights shining on the trees and the fountain. We walked up the big steps and rang the bell. I heard Cocoa barking from inside.
Dad opened up the huge marble doors and embraced me with a hug. "Missed you kido!" He said helping the driver with the bags. "Derek!" dad shouted into the house. My brother came running down the grand stair case. "What?" He yelled, then he saw me and picked me up. "Little Kitty Kat's home!" He said picking me up and spinning me around. "Missed you Der" I said. "Wow mom was right you look great sis, like a new person!" then he walked over to Deanna "Hey Deanna!" He said hugging her.
I was actually really glad to see Derek he lived here with dad so he could go to collage at UCLA next fall. "I thought mom was coming down with you guys." He said. "No she is coming down in 3 days." I said. Dad dragged our bags inside and closed the doors.
We all walked into the kitchen. "Deanna how is your family doing?" Dad asked. "They're doing good. Thanks." She answered. "So I hope you kids are hungry for chinese." dad said. "Should be here soon." Derek said.
"We're going to bring our stuff upstairs. Derek come help?" I said. "Colton come help me with these bags!" Derek yelled upstairs. I gave Derek a weird look. "Colton Kiaser?" I asked. Derek didn't answer, but I was right. "What the hell!" I muttered to Deanna as Colton walked down the stairs. Colton got taller since the last two years and really built. He first noticed Deanna but then he saw me and he stared at me like I was some alien. He didn't say anything he just grabbed to suitcases and headed upstairs so did my brother. The boys stopped at my room and left the suitcases on the floor. "Thanks." Deanna said. The boys walked back downstairs. "Whoa did he get hotter or what?" Deanna said once Colton was out of earshot. "I didn't notice." I lied.
I've known Colton my whole life our dads met in third grade and are still best friends. Colton and I used to be the bestest of friends when we were little we did everything together. We got into a big fight one day. Then when I was going into 7th grade and Colton was going into highschool he decided he was too cool to talk to me. He became really close with my brother though even though Derek is a year older than him. Whenever they would hang out Colton would always tease me. Colton's junior year he went to a boarding school for doing something bad but no one would tell me what. Why the hell is he staying with us this summer. I hate him!
We sat at the table downstairs me, dad, Deanna, Derek, and Colton with the chinese food in the middle. "So Kat I forgot to tell you" dad started saying and I figured this would explain the sudden reappearence of Colton. "Colton's parent's are in Europe all summer for buissness so Colton will be staying here." I rolled my eyes not responding. "It's been a while." Colton said. Now he started talking he wouldn't even give me a damn hello earlier. "Yeah why is that?" I asked. "Life gets busy." Colton said grinning. The rest of dinner was spent discussing UCLA and summer plans.
After dinner Deanna and I went upstairs to unpack. "So you still don't know why he left last year?" Deanna asked while hanging clothes up in the closet. I dumped my two suitcases onto the floor and started sticking things in drawers and hanging things up. "No idea." I said I was in a really bad mood because I just found out Colton is staying with us and the last thing I want to talk about is Colton!
We finished putting our stuff away and I jumped onto my comfortable white bed with tons of blue pillows on it. Deanna's bed was next to mine they were both queen sized with a side table inbetween. The tv was on the wall across from our beds. I turned the tv on. Deanna opened up the sliding glass doors and walked outside. The belcany looked over the ocean. There were two lawn chairs and a table on the balcany so we can tan in the morning. I felt the cool ocean breeze fly into the room when the doors were opened. The white curtains danced in the wind. Even though I should be feeling excited to be here all I could think about was how much I wished Colton wasn't.
