MAITHILI'S POV :

I woke up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping outside the window. As I stretched my arms and sat up, I realized I had fallen asleep on the couch. But this is not my room. Where the hell I'm?? And then the memories of the previous day flooded my mind, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of uncertainty and curiosity about what lay ahead.

I got up and realized I was still in that heavy lehenga. Ugh! I hate this life. I walked towards the kitchen, hoping to find something to eat. I've not eaten anything from last night. As I opened the fridge, my eyes widened, there was no trace of food in there. The whole fridge is filled with alcohol bottles.

Nah! Nah! Expensive alcohol bottles. "Inko zinda rehne ke liye oxygen ki jagah sharab lagti hai shayad," I thought and closed the fridge.

I noticed a note placed on the countertop. It was from my husband, whose name I still didn't know.

"Good morning Maithili,

I hope you slept well. I had an early morning meeting to attend, so I couldn't wait for you to wake up. There's breakfast prepared for you in the microwave.

Your Husband"

His message was brief, yet it showed a hint of consideration. I appreciated the fact that he had thoughtfully prepared breakfast for me and left me a note. It was a small gesture, but it made me feel slightly more at ease.

I heated the breakfast and sat down at the kitchen table, enjoying the simple meal. As I ate, I couldn't help but wonder about my husband. Who was he? What was his story? I was determined to find out more about him, even if it meant stepping out of my comfort zone. But when I was ever in my comfort zone.

After finishing breakfast, I decided to explore the house. I opened one of the doors and found myself in a bedroom. It was spacious, with a large window that overlooked the city skyline. It was so cold here. With the mix of black and grey in everything. Be it walls, bed, couch or anything you can find here is either black or grey. It screamed his personality.

Now when I thought about this, everything in this apartment is like that. In black-grey combination.

As I moved towards the balcony, I noticed a small garden filled with colorful flowers. It was a pleasant surprise, and I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me. Also, a swing was placed on the other side. Perhaps this place had the potential to become a home, not just a house. I guess this will be my place.

I continued my exploration and opened another door, revealing a home office. The room was filled with books, files, and a neatly organized workspace. It was evident that my husband was a man of intellect and ambition. I wondered what he did for a living and how he spent his days.

Feeling a surge of courage, I decided to reach out to him. I found a notepad on his desk and wrote a note.

"Dear Husband,

Thank you for the breakfast and the note. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I would love to know more about you and your life. If you're open to it, let's make an effort to bridge the gap between us. Maybe we can start by having dinner together tonight?

Sincerely, Maithili"

I left the note on his desk, hoping that he would be receptive to my suggestion. It was a small step, but it felt like a step towards building a connection, however fragile it may be.

I found my suitcase and decided to freshen up and come out of this lehenga. I chose a simple red anarkali suit to wear. Anarkali suits are my favorite. Most people don't like them but I'm obsessed with it. 90 percent of my clothes are anarkalis.

Her outfit.

The rest of the day passed in a mix of anticipation and nervousness. I busied myself with exploring the house further and making it feel more like my own. I rearranged some furniture and added personal touches.

As evening approached, I found myself anxiously waiting for my husband's return. I cooked food for us and put in some extra effort as this is the first time I'll be having a meal with him if he considers eating with me. I couldn't help but wonder if he would accept my invitation and if this could be the beginning of something more than just a marriage of convenience.
