He pulls up to my house. I look out the window and see Uncle Jake's car is in the driveway and all the lights are on. My heart starts beating really fast. I really don't want to go in there, he will hurt me for being late.
"Is everything alright" Nick asks.
"Uhhh.... I don't want to make you late to your dinner but could you actually drop me off at that cafe down that street" I point in the direction of the cafe.
"How about you order a pizza, I'll go pick it up and we can go somewhere and eat it"
"Aren't you going to dinner at your mom's"
"I really don't want to go and besides, you look like you could really use someone to talk to. I know the perfect spot we can go to eat the pizza" I get out my phone and start dialling the closest pizza place while Nick starts driving.
After I ordered the pizza, Nick arrived there like 5 minutes later and we sat in the car as it probably isn't ready. We sit there in silence for a few minutes.
"It should be ready by now. If you just want to duck if anyone walks by" He laughs and I laugh with him. He gets out and I watch him walk in.
I really wish he wasn't my teacher because he is one of the nicest and sweetest guys I have met. Like seriously, what was the odds of him being my teacher and being related to the principal. I watch as he walks back out with the pizza, I can't help but stare at his face, his handsome good looks. He hops back in the car and hands me the pizza. He drives off.
"Would you be treating me like this if we hadn't met before school started" I blurted out.
"Honestly, probably not. You would have just been a beautiful girl that sat in the back row of my class. But because I met you before school started, I can't stop thinking about you, your lips on mine. I am using every bit of strength I have not to kiss you" He glances at me and a smile spreads across my lips.
He continues driving, it feels like I have been in the car forever. I haven't ever been to this side of town. He has been driving up a hill for the past ten minutes. He finally stops when he gets to the top, he parked on the edge of the hill. He has stopped raining.
"So what are we doing up here" I ask.
"We are going to eat the pizza, no one ever comes up here so its perfect" He sit there confused. He gets out of the car and opens the boot. I watch as he hops in and places the back seats down. "It should be a little more comfortable now"
I hop out of the car and walk around to the boot, I pass him the pizza and he helps me up. I sit next to him with the pizza in the middle.
We dig into the pizza. I haven't had dinner like this since my parents died. In foster home, you had to eat fast or you didn't eat. With my uncle, you have to make your own dinner and you most likely have to eat it alone.
Next minute a phone starts ringing, it's Nick's.
"Sorry, it's just my brother" He answers his phone. "Sorry Sam, I forgot to text you but I can't make dinner.... Something came up.... I will drop by mom's tomorrow, the weekend at the latest.... No, detention with Addison was fine. I made her write out lines before she left.... I will see you tomorrow" He hangs up the phone.
"Did you just lie to Mr White"
"It's not the first time" He laughs and I continue to eat the pizza. "Can I ask you a question, it might be a bit personal so you don't have to answer it" He asks and I stop eating the pizza.
"Sure"
"Is everything alright at home, I mean you living with your Uncle. I saw your face when I pulled up to your house, you looked nervous and scared" I look away as I feel tears in my eyes.
