Nick finished cleaning all the blood off me and helped take out all the little bits of glass all over my body. I stand in the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror.

"I think it's time you and I talk. Addison, I do not buy that you just fell down the stairs. I seriously want to know why downstairs looks like a bomb hit it and why you have bruises all over your face, neck and the rest of your body" He says in a stern voice, I turn around and look at him. I can see the concern look in his eyes.

"I can't say anything" I say as I walk past him and into my room.

"Come on Addison. I have broken so many laws being with you last night as well as being here now. When you didn't show up at school this morning, I was worried something had happened to you so I rushed over and I found you all banged up" He says in an angry tone. I look at him. I have never seen him this worked up.

"Well maybe you should just go. Leave me, I will transfer out of your class and you won't have to see me everyday. I am a waste of space that shouldn't even be here" I screamed. He walks closer to me.

"I'm not going to go and I don't want you to transfer out of my class. I care about you Addison, I just want to know what is going on with you. Is it your Uncle, does he hurt you" I break down in tears.

"You can't tell anyone or I will be sent back into foster care and I will be separated from Ben. He only hurts me when I don't follow his rules" He walks over to me and takes me into his arms.

"You shouldn't have to put up with that" He whispers in my ear.

"It's only for another year, I turn 17 next week. I need to start following his rules"

"Well do you want to spend a couple of nights at my place, you will be safe there" He says and I pull back and look at him.

"I really can't. He expects me to come straight home after school or he gets mad. He drinks every afternoon so if I am not home straight after school then he hurts me. I usually have detention straight after school everyday so I have until 4.30 to get home but sometimes I don't make it. My social worker can drop in anytime after school and he doesn't like it if I'm not there when she's there"

"Come on, I'm getting you out of here" He grabs my hand and starts pulling me towards my door.

"No, I can't go anywhere" I pull my hand away. I walk over to my bed and sit down.

"I am not going to stand back and watch you get hurt"

"Well it's better than going back into foster care. You should really go, I have told you way too much"

"Do you mind if I stay with you for a while" I nod my head. I lye down on my bed and face the wall. I feel him lye down next to me and he wraps his arms around me.

"Don't you have to go back to school"

"I have a spare period now so I will have to leave in a few minutes"

"Can you please not tell anyone what I told you" I say before we just lye there in silence. I felt really safe in his arms.

"I'm sorry but I have to start heading back now" He says after a few minutes of just lying there in silence. He lets go of me and hops up. I turn around and look at him. "Can you please call me if you need anything. You are always welcomed at my place" I hop up off my bed.

"Thank you, for being there for me"

"I will always be here for you. You just have to call me and I will be straight over" He presses his lips on mine.

I walk him down the stairs and to the door.

"I will see you at school tomorrow" I smile as I open the door.

"If he hurts you again, please call me and I will be right over and you are always welcomed at my place"

"Thanks, I will" He walks out and I shut the door. I walk back up the stairs and to my room.

I shut my door and slide my back down until I am sitting on the floor. I pull out my phone and stare at the last family photo that we had taken just a few days before they died.

I spent the rest of the day thinking about my parents, I got a few texts from my friends asking where I have been until I heard the front door slam and I quickly got up from the floor. I sit on my bed as I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. The door flings open.

"Nice to see that you are home this afternoon. It's your turn to make dinner if you want to get started" He says. He has obviously not started drinking yet.

I walk out of my room, down the stairs and into the kitchen. Life isn't too bad here as long as I follow his rules.

I pull out a few things from the fridge and I start cooking dinner.

After dinner, Uncle Jake left me to clean up while he and Ben went to watch TV.

I finish cleaning up and I just went upstairs to my room and started getting ready for bed.

I had a shower and got changed into my pyjamas. Next minute my phone dings. I look at it and a smile quickly spreads across my face.

How are you doing. - Nick

I'm doing alright. Thanks for coming over today. It really helped. - Addi

Anytime, you just have to call me. -Nick

I put my phone away, I turn my light off and lye down on my bed.

I stare up at the ceiling and think about every little thing about my life until I drift off to sleep.
