Life isn't always fair

Chapter 7

A week later

Today is my 17th birthday, it is usually a shitty day, well it has been since my parents dies. Probably because they died just before my 14th Birthday.

I have been following Uncle Jake's rules the last week, there has only been a couple of times where he has hurt me, not as bad but he did push me over and I landed on my right shoulder so it is very painful at the moment. I only have one more year with him and then I can live on my own once I turn 18.

I got dressed into this cute pink mini dress with ankle boots. I just finished my makeup and curled my hair and left it dangled down my back.

"Happy Birthday" Ben says as I walk out of my room.

"Thanks"

"So are you going to school today" He asks as we walk downstairs.

"Yeah or the Principal will ring Uncle Jake and I will be in so much trouble"

We get down the stairs, we grab our bags and walk out of the house. Next minute my phone dings, I pull it out and it's Nick.

Please come into my classroom before school. -Nick.

I put my phone away and we continue to walk to school.

"Are you going to school to impress someone because since when do you wear a dress to school"

"I just felt like wearing it today. Is there a problem with that"

"I'm your brother, I'm just trying to be protective. I hear all the guys talking about you"

"Well I am not dressing to impress any high school boy. Anyway, I'm not into high school boys. Can we just drop this please" We walk the rest of the way to school in silence.

We finally make it to school. Ben walks off to his friends and I walk off to mine.

"Oh My God Addi, you look amazing in that dress" Casey says as she hugs me.

"Happy Birthday" Maddy says as I pull back from Casey.

"Thanks, I have to go see Mr Walker about some assignment, I will see you guys in class"

"Oh wait, did you want to go out for dinner tonight. I know it's a Wednesday night but it's your Birthday" Harper asks and I look at them.

"Sorry but I can't. It's a school night and my Uncle won't allow me to go out. Maybe this weekend" I walk away from them and into the school. I walk down the hall and to Nick's classroom door.

I knock then open the door to see Nick sitting at his desk on his computer, he looks up at me. I look around and shut the door before I say anything.

"So I got your text" I walk over and lean up against one of the desks in the first row. He shuts his computer and gets up. He walks around his desk and leans up against it.

"I firstly wanted to say Happy Birthday" I look at him shocked.

"How did you know it was today"

"Well you said it was this week and it showed up in the system. So I asked you to come here this morning because I wanted to know if you had any plans for tonight"

"I don't but my Uncle won't let me go out on a school night"

"Could you just ask. I have a nice evening planned for your Birthday, I can pick you up" He smiles at me. The same smile that caught my eye the afternoon we met.

"I can ask but it won't be until I get home and he will probably say no"

"Just text me and I can pick you up. Also, I can talk to Mr White about cancelling your detention this afternoon if you want me to" He says as my phone dings but I just ignore it.

"No, it's fine. He will probably just give me another week instead"

"He is not that bad. You have had detention all of last week and the last two days. I think you have learnt your lesson" He says as the door flings open. I look over and Ben is standing in the middle of the doorway with an angry look on his face.

"What's up Ben"

"You told me this morning that you weren't into high school boys, that's because you are gay" He yells and I look at him shocked.

"What are you talking about" I ask. He grabs out his phone and shows me some picture.

The picture was of Maddi and I kissing in a hot tub with no clothes on at some party like a week after I moved in with my Uncle. It was a drunkin mistake.

"Where the hell did you get this" I ask as I grab his phone.

"I don't know, someone sent it to everyone in the school" He says and I look at Nick. He looks horrified. "I need you to start explaining yourself. Mom and Dad would be so ashamed of you"

"Ben, your 14. I don't have to tell you a thing. I'm not gay, I was drunk at a party"

"You were naked in this picture"

"FOR FUCK SAKE BEN, FUCK OFF" I yell.

"Addison, language" Nick steps in.

"This is probably why Uncle Jake hurts you all the time. You need to sort your shit out" He says before he walks out of the classroom. I look at Nick and I still see the horror on his face.

"Before you start, I went to this party like a week after I moved in with my uncle, I was going through a rough patch. I just had too much to drink. I'm sorry but I am clearly a waste of space" I say before I walk out of the classroom.

I look down the hallway and everyone is staring at me.

"What the hell Addi! Did you know about this photo" Maddi walks up to me.

"No, we agreed to forget about that moment"

"I can not have this photo floating around, do you know what my parents are like around this stuff"

"I can't afford to have this picture floating around either. What do you want me to do about it?"

"Find the person who sent it. Tell everyone that it didn't happen. Do something" Maddi yells at me.

"Hello ladies, did you two want some privacy, maybe a hot tub that you can go and make out in" I turn around and see Jason walking towards us.

"Fuck off Jason" I turn back around and look at Maddi.

"Come on Addison, you can come out of the closet now. We all know your secret love interest" Jason says as he grabs my right arm and pulls me away. I feel so much pain in my shoulder, I try not to let it show.

"FUCK OFF JASON" I yell in pain, he lets go of my arm.

"I mean you both look so much hotter with no clothes on"

"Jason, I mean it. Fuck off"

"Or what" I look him hard in the face. I clench my fist as the bell goes for first period.

"Is there a problem here" I hear Nick say as he walks up beside us.

"I was just wishing Addison a Happy Birthday. You should see the gift I gave her, it's very hot. Also, you should talk to Addison about her strong use of language towards me" Jason smiles.

"Jason, get to class. I will talk to Addison" I watch as he walks away. Everyone else walks away as well until it was only Nick and I in the hallway.

"Listen, I think you should head home. I really want to have a talk with you but we can't do that here. I will text you my address and if you can drop by tonight, that would be great" I smile and walk past him and out of the school. I start walking home.
