"Send me to the Capitol," I tell Coin. My thirst for revenge is so great that I don't even think that much about what I say.

"I can't," She replies, covering her mouth with a hand. "I can't send you there. We can't get into the Capitol until we control District 2."

I remember when Plutarch told me that District 2 was the District closest to the Capitol and would be the last to participate in the rebellion. Although Cato is from there, apart from the bombing that happened after I fired the arrow at the arena, the District was not attacked in any way after that. I even heard that the Capitol helped rebuild it after the bombs. Snow did it to show that everyone who supports me and Cato will be punished and those who don't will be rewarded.

"Okay, then send me there," I say. "You want me to fire up our troops? Call out to the loyalists? Send me to Two and finally all the Districts will be on our side. You know I can do it."

"Yes, I know," Coin finally says which means my job as the Mockingjay isn't done yet. When I receive permission from her, a small smile appears on my face.

I wonder how Cato will react to this. Now that he's here, Coin isn't the only one I have to ask permission from...

After several days of preparation, the time has finally come for us to leave for District 2. We plan to stay there for a longer period, perhaps a week, so that we can persuade the entire District to join our cause and break free from the Capitol's control. However, before I depart, there is someone I must say goodbye to. Just the thought of doing so brings me a sense of calm that I did not have before.

As I push open the door to the room, my gaze falls upon Cato who is being helped up by two nurses. He immediately turns his head towards me, his eyes locking onto mine with a mixture of surprise and relief. He manages to sit up straight, his body supported by the nurses who stand by his side.

"Melanie," Cato says with a relief. "I thought you wouldn't say goodbye."

"How can you think that?" I ask him.

"I don't know, maybe because of the last time we saw each other," He replies and my thoughts immediately take me back to yesterday.

Cato and I argued about my going to District 2. He didn't want me to go because he thought the people there would be too dangerous for me. I understand his concerns, but I don't think this will be the first time I've met people who want to kill me. That's why we had a little fight yesterday.

"You know that's my job, Cato," I tell him. "If I hadn't become the Mockingjay, Snow would still be holding the Hunger Games every year, and we'd both be dead."
