**********

As the days passed, Maimuna and Mahmood's situation continued to worsen. With Rabiah, Muna's mother, refusing to compromise, and then even Adda, is no longer in support of their relationship due to the chaos it was causing in their respective families. Mahmood's family had heard about Hajiya Rabia's disrespectful behavior and consequently opposed the union. Kawu hashim, also distanced himself from the situation as his relationship with his sister and wife was more important to him.

So what really happened?

Mahmood's Grandfather, Baba, realized the depth of his grandson's love for the girl and decided to intervene. He spoke to his son, Ahmad Yusufari, who is mahmood's father about the boys issue and convinced him to get involved. Ahmad agreed, and they sent their closest confidant to the Ukasha mansion, where Adda warmly received them (her uncles) leaving Hashim her husband to attended to the guests (his inlaws). After exchanging pleasantries, he listened attentively to the purpose of their visit.

Knowing it was men affairs but his ever adamant sister had insisted on handling her daughters marriage affair alone. That has really put him in a tight corner,he didn't know what to say. Until they asked of the girls father insisting he was in the better position to grant their request. Nan fa daya.

Ana haka ko, The almighty rabiah who got a whiff of who the visitors where and their agenda from her apartment graced them with her appearance.

She sat accros the men, leg crossed and face devoid of smile, as she engaged in a staring contest with the three men. Hashim had no choice than to introduce her to them.

"Wannan itace mahaifiyarta" he pointed at her trying so hard to swallow his anger. That didn't go unnoticed.

"Ow" the men muttered feeling uncomfortable by her stares. "Assalamu Alaykum Hajiya" the oldest of the men managed to say. And she noded to his greetings before finally saying " yawwa sannunku. I heard you are here on behalf of my daughter. Lafiya dai ko?"

It was disrespectful,to them since they had no business with her, but since she asked, the younger man quickly beat the older man in replying, so his elder brother will feel less insulted by the woman's action.

"Yes Hajiya, we are here on behalf of our son, Gidado, wanda yake neman Yar ku. But we will prefer to meet her paternal family, mun riga munji labarin shi Alhaji omar din, since we realise Alhaji ukasha here is her maternal uncle and he already said he had no say on Maimuna even though awajen shi ta girma. Err.... that was what we were discussing before you came in" he stammered on the last sentence seeing how she degradingly sized him up with her large eyes.

The older man was getting impatient, he had never seen a thing like this. The way she sits as though she is in control of the whole house is both scary and annoying. Women should be lorded over. Why does she look and behave like the lord while Ukasha looked helpless.... Is this the person they gave their daughter? Tabdi jam.

None of the men saw her next word comming
" Maimuna has no father nor does she have any paternal family. Ni ce babanta kuma nice Maman...duk abunda zaku fada, discuss it with me and if its about that boy mahmood, please i do not think that is a topic for discussion. We are not intrested and by we i mean I. Me and myself." She said glaring back at her brother who has been glaring at her.

And that did it for the men. The picked their remaining mutunci and left the house not even saying goodbye to ukasha who had tried to escort them.... They saw how uncomfortable and angry he was and decided to save him the embarassement. "Ah. Alhaji ukasha basai ka raka mu ba, yi zaman ka kawai".

Hashim turned towards his non chalant sister in fury. Eyes pink. veins stressed.

Gaba daya he didn't know what to do with her. For the first time in decades, she had managed to pull the last string of patience he was holding onto. And how dare she sit unfazed after pulling such a stunt.

"Bazan taba yafe miki ba Rabiah. You dare disgrace me infront of my inlaws? I was handling it well Lunja, i wasn't gonna give your daughter out in marriage, ~emphasis on YOUR~. The least you could have done was give me the honor, as the man of the house"

At this point the 37 year old man was at the verge of breaking into tears especially when his eyes landed on his worried wife's face who came out to see what the commotion was about.

"Rabiah kin girmeni nasani, but islamically, Allah has placed me above you, He has placed men above women, wai yaushe zaki daina ja da maganar Allah ne?" Now he was shouting

And she, the queen mother, Rabiah knows better than to say a word. She knew she had stepped on his ego tooo much for the day than let her supercilious mouth do more damage. So she remained mute as her eyes weakly trailed his angry body stomping out of the house.

It was only after then that she let the tears fall. Once again she had let her anger take over her soul. She never thought about their reputation. She was just clouded by her own anger.

Does she feel sorry? Yes. Does she regret it? Hell no.

She will chase them away over and over again. Not when she has sourced for information about the boys parent. Not when she had discovered that the boys mother died of depression all thanks to his father. Not when the boy looks and behaves like Omar. Her Omar. The man who made and unmade her.

Hashim can fume all he wants. Maimuna can fall sick all she wants. Infact The entire world can fall apart for all she cares.

She Lunja remains unyielding. The two kids are not meant for each other. Periodtt.
