Part 10. Friends to enemies

You left to Monaco the same night you talked with Lando, you took the plane and the only thing you could think was Lando, he left the room to leave you alone and give you some time to think, you could see in his eyes sincerity and pain when you ask for some time apart and that hurt you but you needed your distance because it seemed he didn't care about your feelings anymore.

Weeks passed by and you haven't heard from Lando since the breakup, the thinking about texting him and asking him how he was it was always back and forth in your mind but you never did so you went back to your life and work but in that time your started to became really close to Carlos and you were texting each other constantly.

Carlos's POV

It was race day and I was ready for it, P4 was not the best but it was not bad, I always want to win but we all know Max is the fastest and he was starting from pole position so I was at least expecting for a podium today.
I went for a small run then came back to the hotel, took a shower and got ready to leave for the track.

I grabbed my phone and I texted Y/n, I know Lando and her just broke up and even thought I liked her I will never take advantage of the situation but I found peace talking to her and she has always been a good time to be around

*: Race day baby!
*: Ready?
*: I am! I'm really waiting for a podium today
*: Of course you will get it
*: Are you going to watch the race and support me?
*: I will, good luck!
*: I will text you later

I jumped in the car and we drove to the track, I enter the paddock then attended a little meeting with the team, it was almost time for the driver's parade and I saw Charles

-Hey Chili!

-Hey mate, ready for today?

-Yes, let's see what I can do from P7 but let's hope for the best

-I really hope nothing happens with the car today

-I know, right? - he laughed then he made a pause - Have you heard that Y/n and Lando broke up?

-Yes - I said - Y/n told me

-So...since when you like her? - he asked

-Since I met her - I said, it was nice finally said the truth to someone - when did you notice?

-You always act nervous around her - he said the he giggled - It was so obvious you liked her but I don't think Lando ever noticed it

-I hope not

We both walked into the little room where all the drivers get together before the driver's parade

-Hello muppet! - I see Lando - Ready?

-Hello chili, let's go

Lando's POV

The driver's parade was about to start and I was waiting with the others waiting for our turn to get out

-Hello muppet! - I spot Carlos coming closer to me, he is one of my best friend in and out of the track, he knows me too well and I trusted him so much - Ready?

-Hello chili, let's go - I said smiling and getting ready to get up the big truck for the parade

I walked in to the truck and I see Max already in there

-Maxie Maxie - I said giving him a shoulder pad

-Hello Lando - he gave me a small smile - how you doing?

-I have had better days, to be honest

-I heard about you and y/n, I'm sorry mate - he looked at me, Y/n and I broke up and I had to be honest and I was still in denial about it, I wanted her back so bad but I also knew her too well and I needed to give her some space to think
