QOD "Life doesn't come with a manual, it comes with a mother." -Cleophus Franklin jr.

She left for the kitchen, got us Some masa, we ate, and then I freshened up and returned for my

Honestly, I've never really worn makeup before, but that day, I used it as a mask to hide behind. I hoped it would do the trick.

Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly remembered I hadn't seen Mum yet, breaking our tradition of me greeting her first thing in the morning.

I quickly walked to their flat, I met her just by the corridor and the way she glared at me said I was finished.

"Mummy good morning." I greeted hesitantly.

"Morning. You've finally decided to come out of your room."

I only smiled.

"Why did you make your Dad do that last night?"

Not again, I knew that was coming and I couldn't escape it.

"Mummy I just told him what happened and he took it out on them that way."

"Your Dad can be so petty, so he was willing to bring this house down for his daughter."

At that moment the velocity of her voice dropped from hundred to ten real quick.

And my nerves were beginning to function normal, I thought she was going to unleash the dragon in her.

She dragged me by my shoulder closer to her and said, "the thing is, this people won't understand it's him and not you, no body knows your part of the story."

"That's it Mummy, that's it, ni ban san ya zanyi ba (I don't even know what to do)"

"You don't have to do anything just go with the silent treatment, if people yarn rubbish just ignore it, act like you didn't here, like you never knew what happened."

My Mum is such an understanding woman, even though sometimes there's a dragon behind the cute pigeon she is.

"It's your Dad that's painting us black, but it's even good that they're his siblings." She whispered.

And I giggled, " sun fi kusa.(they know themselves better)" I whispered back, we laughed quietly and clapped our hands together.

"start going now, before someone sees us."

with our lips both wide open, " see you later, make sure you look good."

she said the words before, leaving.

Mum actually started the whole thing and made it look awkward, but as a Nigerian Mum that she is, I had to take that as an apology.

I then went back to Afeeyah's room to go have my makeup done.

I know I'm a fine girl, the type that makes people's fathers, people's sons and even peoples husband ogle, but after that makeup I was sure the next man that sets his eyes on me would wife me immediately, cause, whuuu! The heat was too much.

I maintained all beauty and took things handy, wore my white gold dyed kaftan boubou eko Kampala, a four inch golden stiletto that added a little glint to my perfect height, held my golden clutch bag,

the make up artist tied my turban in Zarah Buhari, and everything sets so well with the luxury nude makeup on.

I didn't want to stress myself in joining the bridal train, so I ordered an Uber, went to meet Mama before leaving to ask her if she wanted to join me or something, on getting to her room she already left, everyone was gone except for the bride and her train.

I waited patiently as everyone kept complimenting my looks, all I did was smile and nod, the groomsmen came, took the girls and the bride, of course Afeey insisted that I entered one of the cars, but I am more stubborn than a he goat who just hit puberty, that's if there's a thing like that.

It took about an hour later, and finally the Uber guy was as the gate, I checked my makeup one more time to be sure everything was on point, I didn't want to go to the event looking oily or out of place, but hell, my face looked like I woke up like that.

on Arriving the event center, my heart doubled it beat, my legs vibrated and somehow I could feel the fast movement of the blood in my veins, my skin crawled.

I pushed it In, maintained beauty and walked like everything was fine, it was like my body already sensed the worse day of my life was happening, the moment I put my feet into the hall, all eyes and attention diverted towards me,

some looked at me with admiration, some with utter disgust, some looked like they'll kill me if they had an opportunity, I still maintained balance as I noticed Mama seated from a far.

But as I walked closer to her, her face sent messages to me, her vibe was out, and she faked a smile, she looked pale like someone who had lost something dear, and there my heart doubled it's race.

OMG!
It's about to go down!
