"All right. You two let me do the heavy lifting up front, all right? You both need to save your strength till we're below." Hopper says as they started walking into the lab.
Mary grasped El's hand, looking around at the destruction. "Oh my god." Mary says as she walks down a corridor, seeing fallen bodies.
It brought back memories, the massacre. The blood. The bones.
"Hey, Doc." Hopper says and this brought Mary out of her thoughts. Mary looked down at the familiar man, her eyes wide.
"Those suckers got you pretty good, huh?" Hopper questions, Owens going to speak but being stopped.
"It's okay, don't talk. Don't talk. I got you. I got you. I got you." Hopper repeats as he takes off his belt.
Mary wraps an arm around El protectively. "Oh, yeah, I've been meaning to tell you. This is Eleven and One. Eleven and One, Doc Owens. Doc Owens, Eleven and One." Hopper says, knowing that the doctor would recognize Mary, only by her number.
"Eleven's been staying with me for about a year and both she and One about to save our asses. Maybe when this is all said and done, maybe you could help them out, too, you know?" Hopper says as he wraps the belt around his leg, not yet tight.
"Maybe you could help them lead, like, a normal life. One where they're not poked and prodded and...treated like some kind of lab rat, you know? I don't know, just a thought." Hopper says, tightening the belt, Owens groaning.
"But, uh... think about it." Hopper says as he hands the man a gun, standing back up. "Don't go anywhere." Hopper says causing Owens to chuckle bitterly.
The chief led them down the hall, his gun raised. Mary walked slowly behind Hopper as they looked at the double doors.
Small white particles flew around them, the sound of screeching caused them all to pause. "Stay here." Hopper says to both girls.
El stands with Mary as she holds her arm, Mary looking around wearily. But when too much time passed, Mary and El walked into the room where Hopper was.
Hopper looked at El who looked at him, but Mary stared at the shattered glass windows, screeching and growling echoed in the air.
"Chief, are you there? Chief, do you copy?" The sound of Jonathan sounds through Hopper's radio. "Yeah, I copy." Hopper says. "Close it." Jonathan says.
El and Mary look up at Hopper, slight fear evident in their eyes. When they walked towards the small cart, Mary held onto the metal bars.
Hopper began to lower them down, Mary turning to El, a small smile on her face, El returning it.
They stood in front of the red gate, the brightness emitting on the trios faces. El stood in between Mary and Hopper, the younger girl grabbing their hands.
Hopper pressed a button keeping the cart where it was, El released her hand and raised her right one. Mary raised her right one as well.
While El focused on closing the gate, Mary focused on keeping the flayer inside. The shadow approached the gate, Mary not turning to her sister.
"Don't focus on the shadow, focus on shutting it." Mary says softly. Blood began to slowly drip down their noses, Mary glaring at the shadow approaching.
"Remember what I taught you." Mary echoes in El's head, the younger girl nodding as she shut her eyes.
Mary thought of everything, the torture, the creature, the massacre. Everything that she wanted to forget she needed to remember.
