Aurora has been in the coma for 3 months,
Connors POV:
The girls are at school. I am technically working but I'm on break so I'm sitting up in Aurora's room. I hold her hand.
"Hey Con." She rasps
"Aurora?" I smile
"Hey." She coughs.
I smile and kiss her forehead, "let me get your doctor babe."
She nods. I run out of her room and her doctor. They follow me back inside her room. I hold her hand as they run some tests. She moves over on the bed, gesturing for me to sit. I sit beside her.
"How long has it been?" She asks
"3 months baby." I murmur
"That's how long you've gone without this?" She smiles and kisses me.
"I guess yeah," I grin, "the girls are ok."
"Yeah, how are they holding up." She asks
"They'll be happy once they see you. But uh, I'll warn you. They do call me dad." I exclaim
"That's amazing." She smiles
"Yeah. I've messaged Goodwin. She's gonna come say hi after her meeting. She'll spread word of your awakening." I reply
"I want my girls." She whispers.
"I can call Jay to grab them for you?" I ask
She nods, "video call so I can see him?"
I nod and video call Jay. He answers.
"What's up Connor?" He asks
"Hey brother. You busy right now?" I ask him
"No, why?" He asks
"Can you pick up the girls so I can see them!" Aurora asks
"Rora. You're awake!" He smiles
Aurora nods.
"Course I can. I'll be there within half an hour." Jay smiles and ends the call.
At that moment, Goodwin walks in.
"Hello Aurora." She smiles, "good to see you up."
"Yeah." Aurora replies, "I've missed working."
"Well, I talked to your doctor. You can be discharged this afternoon. Sick leave for a week as you'll probably have migraines. Light work for 2 weeks. So only a few hours of working. Then back to full time." Sharon explains
"Alright." Aurora nods
"Mommy!" The girls run in.
"Hey my babies!" Aurora smiles and I help lift Maya onto the bed as Aurora climbs up.
They hug their mom.
"So kids. Guess who comes home today?" I smile
"Mommy?" They ask
I nod
"Yay. Daddy cuddle?" Maya asks
I nod and lift her into my arms and hug her. Jay walks beside Aurora.
"Hey Rora." He smiles
"Hey Jay." Aurora chuckles.
We talk for a bit before Will and Nat walk in.
"There is our favorite patient!" Will chuckles.
Aurora throws a peace sign to them. Nat chuckles
"Ready to get out of here?" Nat asks
Aurora nods. They leave and I help her change. Nat comes back in and helps to disconnect Aurora. I help her off the bed and into the wheelchair.
"Is this necessary?" Aurora asks
"Yes it is baby." I kiss the top of her hair.
I wheel her out and Alessia walks alongside us, telling Aurora about everything she missed. Maya was asleep on Natalie's hip. I park the wheelchair by the car passenger door. I open it and Aurora stands up before almost toppling into me.
"Hey, you ok baby?" I ask
"Yeah. Just like Goodwin said, migraine." She mumbles
I nod and lift her up, placing her into the car. I buckle her up. I grab Maya gently off Natalie. I buckle Maya in. Alessia hops in. Natalie takes the wheelchair inside. I hop in the drivers seat and drive us home. I park. Alessia helps by lifting Maya out of the car. I carry Aurora in. Alessia unlocks the door.
"Do you want to lay Maya in her bed. I'll put mom to bed too. Can you make her favourite tea?" I ask
Alessia nods. We head inside. Alessia heads to Maya's room. I head into mine. I pull back the covers and lay Aurora in the bed. I tuck her in. I grab Aurora's medication. Alessia comes in carrying a cup of tea. She places it down then leaves. Aurora tries to sit up but she falls back down. I help her sit up and I sit behind her, supporting her. She drinks her tea slowly and takes her medication. She then lays back down and I hop up. I kiss her head and turn off the light, exiting the room. I head downstairs and see Alessia outside in the yard. She is lying in the hammock. I head outside. I realise she is crying
"Hey, what's wrong Alessia?" I ask.
She sees me and immediately latches her arms around my neck, sobbing. I lift her up properly and sit in the hammock myself.
"Hey, talk to me kiddo." I murmur
"Kids. At school." She sobs, "they were making fun of me."
"How baby?" I ask gently
"We, we were changing. For sport. And everyone saw my burn." She cries
"What burn kid?" I ask
She turns around and pulls her shirt off her back. I notice a fire burn scar that I've never noticed.
"What happened?" I ask
"Did mom ever tell you why we moved?" She asks
I shake my head.
"I was home alone after school. Someone broke into our house and lit it up. My back was burned pretty bad. But I'm ok. Mom didn't want to be there anymore." She explains
"Oh kiddo. I'm sorry." I murmur
She nods, "thanks for letting me talk to you dad."
"Of course. Anytime Lessi." I reply, as Maya wanders outside.
She holds her blanket in her hand and runs over to me. I hop up. I lift her up.
"Hey Kiddo." I smile
"Hi Daddy." She mumbles.
"I have a question girls." I sit beside Alessia, "how would you feel about me marrying your mom?"
"I'd love that." Alessia hugs me
"Daddy marry mommy." Maya giggles.
"Ok. But you need to keep it a secret." I tell them
They both nod.
"Dad, you have a ring?" Alessia asks
"Of course." I chuckle and grab a ring box from my coat and open it, "I actually got it today. I might propose to her tonight. Here at home."
"It's beautiful." Alessia smiles as I close the box, "that'll be good."
"Let's head inside." I exclaim and us three go in.
I start cooking dinner when Aurora walks downstairs.
"Hi." She wraps her arms around me
"Hi my love." I reply, "hey, how are you feeling?"
"Better. Migraine is gone." She smiles.
I finish cooking dinner and Aurora helps me out the four plate on the table.
"Kids! Dinner." I call.
They both run in. They sit at the table. Aurora goes to sit down.
"Hey hold on a sec Rory." I grab her hand.
She turns. I get the ring box out and get on one knee.
"Oh my gosh." She gasps
"Aurora Kyana Kennedy, I know this isn't the most romantic way possible but I wanted to do it with the kids too. I almost lost you. I don't want to lose you again, I love you way too much for that. Will you make me the happiest man, and become Mrs Rhodes?" I propose
She nods her head, "yes, yes Connor Rhodes, I will."
I smile, place the ring on her finger and kiss her gently. The girls scream in excitement. We sit down and eat dinner. We then decide to watch a movie and then head to bed.
