Adriana's POV

"He owes Romeo Valentino" he said quietly.

"Romeo who? THE Romeo Valentino?"

"Yes THE" he said, my eyes widened.

I dont know what kind of trouble papa was in but i can't even believe this. Romeo Valentino is a terrible man... a criminal... a MURDERER.

"How could that even happen, why do they know each other?" I asked him tearing up once again.

"Adri.. Papa was a part of the Mafia."

"There's no way, he was nothing like THOSE people!"

"Adriana keep your voice down. I know you are upset and this is exactly why papa didn't want you to know. You cant handle it."

"Im not a kid Alessio!"

Alessio got up, pushed the chair in and headed to the front to pay. I sat there watching, he put the receipt in his pocket and walked to the car. I finally decided to get up. The walk to the car made me feel like I had weights tied around my ankles. I slammed the door shut after entering and Alessio rolled his eyes.

During the drive home it started to rain, I watched the raindrops race like I did when i was a child. I miss life when it was good. Im so full of anger and I don't know what to do with it.

Alessio's POV

I knew her reaction wouldn't be a good one. I haven't even told her the worst part. My only sibling is going to hate me forever. The only person I have left. Im at a loss for words really I have no idea how to tell her. Adriana just graduated she is only 18 she has a whole life ahead of her that she deserves to live on her own terms. I hate this for her. I wish i could just kill him.

We arrived back to the house after another silent car ride. She slammed my car door once again and ran up the set of steps.

"Adriana wait!" I yelled after her

I walked in just in time to stop her from going upstairs to her room.

"Come sit"

She sat across from me at the dining table and I handed her an envelope. I started to sweat as I watched her open it. By the time she made it to the bottom of the letter her face was tomato red. I was terrified to see how she would react to the arrangement contract. Romeo needs to marry to continue his blood line and to maintain a good public image. She stood up and ripped the paper in half. Here we go.

"I HATE YOU" she screamed in my face

"I love you and thats the only reason i agreed"

"I am not marrying a monster or a man i have never met!"

"He has made it very clear what will happen if you do not agree, he will be here tomorrow to meet you."

"Im not doing it"

"Okay so then we're both dead and he takes over papa's business that he worked so hard for."

Here she is in front of me bawling her eyes out. I hate it. Im so helpless in this situation. Convincing her is the only way i can protect her.

"Do it for papa" I said trying to hug her.

She nodded then shrugged me off and headed to the stairs.

"Mr. Valentino will be here to meet you at 2 tomorrow afternoon."

She didn't say another word and i heard her bedroom door close. Im surprised it wasn't slammed. She really hates me.
