Adriana's POV

The day I absolutely dreaded has arrived. I was ushered through a massive cathedral to be met with a bunch of strangers. They sat me in a chair and started on my makeup and hair.

After what felt like forever the lady finished my makeup and handed me a mirror.

"Do you like?" She asked

I didn't even recognize the person staring back at me. The makeup is much heavier than Im used to. She gave me black winged liner with a brown smokey eye that included some shimmer, falsies, light blush, highlight that was blinding, brown lip liner with a nude glossy lip to top it off. It was gorgeous.

"I love it! Thank you so much."

My hair was done next and she did a great job. My long black hair had loose bouncy curls, it had a modern look to it.

Two ladies helped me get into my wedding gown and heels. Once they left I put in the earrings given to me. I couldn't help but stare into the mirror. I was filled with so much anxiety I thought I might faint. The unknown of what comes after the wedding is what puts fear into me.

My thoughts were interrupted with a knock on the door.

"Are you decent?" Asked Alessio through the door.

"Come in"

"You look beautiful" Alessio said as he entered the door.

"Thank you."

"You might need this." He lightly smiled and handed me a glass of champagne.

"Hopefully it will help with the nerves." I then took a sip and sat it on the end table.

"Im so sorry Adri. I really wish it wasn't like this."

Before I could say anything there was another knock on the door. It was 2 armed men telling us it was time. My mind was racing. Im really marrying a man I've never even had a real conversation with. A man who has threatened my life.

As the men opened the door my heart was racing. Alessio was given permission to walk me down the aisle. He squeezed my hand to show the only artificial reassurance he could give. As we began to walk i realized there were at least 300 people here to see us get married. The Cathedral was beautiful. The flowers and greenery lined the aisle just as i picked. The artwork on the walls and ceiling were breathtaking. All of it was almost enough to distract me from what was really happening right now.

We made it to the altar and I could finally see the face of Romeo Valentino. Alessio whispered I love you and passed me off before taking a seat. Romeo grabbed both of my hands still smiling. He was wearing a jet black suit, a gold watch, and some big rings. His hair was neatly combed back. He looked good. Playing the perfect part to keep up his facade.

"We are gathered here today to commence the marriage of Adriana and Romeo Valentino." The Priest started.

After all of the formalities he made us repeat the vows written for us. Romeo slipped the ring on my shaking hand and I did the same.

"Do you take Romeo to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The Priest turned to me.

With a lump in my throat I managed to say I do.

"Do you take Adriana to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Please just say no, change your mind. Please. I pleaded in my mind. Tears started welling in my eyes.

With zero hesitation he said "I do"

Looking between both of us "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

As Romeo started leaning towards me I swear I could hear my own heart beat. I closed my eyes as I felt his warm lips meet mine. Not long after he pulled back, I was glad it was over but hoped it was convincing enough for our audience.

The wedding guests erupted with applause.
