She was a soc, and he was a greaser.

Soc is short for the socials. They are popular, looked upon, and favorited. They're filthy rich and blow that money on useless parties and beer blasts. They also jump greasers for the fun of it.

Socs are the people that treat your parents so kind and make them think that they're an angel, but they aren't. The minute your parents turn their back, they punch you. They beat you. All for their entertainment.

On the night at the drive-in, Two-Bit Mathews forgot all about that. He met the pretties girl in the world. She had short brown hair, a couple of inches below her chin. Vibrant, brown eyes, long eyelashes, and naturally pink lips. He remembered these features.

They had chatted for a bit. She had a pretty smile and a beautiful laugh. She giggled a what seemed like almost everything Two-Bit had said. When Ponyboy and Cherry had left to get popcorn, Two-Bit gathered the courage to ask for her number.

Two-Bit was famous for getting with many different blondes, but this girl wasn't blonde, and Two-Bit's heart actually raced, hoping she felt the same towards him.

"I may have a piece of paper somewhere..."

Two-Bit could help but smile. He saw her write down a couple of numbers, then "Marcia," in a very pretty cursive handwriting. She had dotted the "i" with a heart. Then another heart after the name.

She handed him the paper and smiled. Two-Bit smiled back.

"You better call," she said, with a silly tone in her voice.

After the movie, Two-Bit offered to walk Cherry and Marcia home. They both said yes, bit their boyfriends came to pick them up. Two-Bit fought to let the girls free but it wasn't enough. Two-Bit's coat was ripped off of Marcia and she sounded annoyed.

Before Cherry left, she told Ponyboy how they'd probably never get to talk in public, for it'd ruin her reputation.

Two-Bit took this to heart. If he truly loved the girl, he wouldn't want to embarrass or ruin her, so Two-Bit took that paper, shoved it in his mouth and spit it out.

"What was that?" Johnny asked as they walked home. It was pitch black out.

"Marcia's number. Probably a phony one anyone. A girl like her would never go out with a guy like me," Two-Bit said. He meant what he said.

Little did he know, that the short brown haired girl fell asleep on the couch next to the phone, waiting.
