Nick POV 12:31 am

* * *3 days later than the previous chapter

I was awoken by a small figure running into my room and jumping on me. I groan in pain when I feel a tiny elbow in my stomach. I instantly hear apologies.

-I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you!

I smile in the dark.

-It's okay sweetheart. Did the storm wake you up?

There have been bad storms all day, the day before yesterday, last night, yesterday, and tonight. Hazel has never liked storms all that much but they normally don't scare her this bad.

-Yeah, it's so loud and scary!

I try to not laugh out loud. I love my kids but some of their fears are so silly.

BAM! Crack of lightning. BOOM crack of thunder follows. And here comes the tears. I hear Hazel whimper next to me so I reach my arm out and pull her close to me. She hides her face in the crook of my neck. I gently pull her head back, wiping her tears before placing it back. I kiss her hair and cover her up under my heated blanket knowing she needs to be warm to fall asleep. I rub her back gently and within the next ten minutes, she's out like a light and rolling to the other side of the bed. I didn't even notice she brought that huge bear in here. I shake my head as she cuddles with it. I quickly fix the covers on her before I lay down and close my eyes.

2:21 am

I'm awoken by a few screams. I open my eyes and the lights in my room are turned on. I look around and see all my kids looking at me with a crying Hazel still on the bed. I rub my eyes, tiredly.

-What's going on you guys?

Adam speaks first.

-Papi, we're sorry to wake you but the storm is really bad. The winds are so rough, it's hailing, the lightning is bad and there's so much thunder and rain. We turned the news on and it said the wind is going 57.5 mph and there's almost two inches of hail.

He walks over to me and whispers in my ear.

-There's a tornado watch and it was suggested everyone move into storm shelters now.

I nod my head. He whispered the last part because if Hazel had heard she would have lost her mind. I think long and hard for a moment. We have a very big underground space, under our basement for storms. There are around 3 beds down there currently and plenty of food for a week. A built-in bathroom with a shower. And we have spare clothes down there for everyone along with blankets and pillows. We also have an outside storm shelter built by the garage, underground but outside for our guards. There are a ton of bunk beds in there.

I let out a long sigh and looked at Hazel.

-Sweetie can you go to your room and grab Ace's crown?

She nods her head and rushes across the room. I quickly explain to everyone what to do.

-Adam and Destiny go into the secret room behind the pantry and enter the code. It needs two different fingerprints so that's why you both need to. Wait a couple of minutes though because that will seal the windows and doors with the metal gates. Leo and Theo you two stick together and get all the guards into the storm shelter outside. Cole and Avery take Hazel into the shelter below the basement for me. Act like we're having a sleepover or something just to keep her distracted. I'll wait in the living room for everyone. We do not lock the shelter doors or house doors and windows until everyone is safe, got it?
