The next few months in the trading company went by fast, but were full of events. Lincoln and Mary bonded over this time, spending nights staring at the sky and days by the river. They often talked about their families. On one such night, while looking at the night sky, they conversed with each other.

"My folks were bacto farmers. When I was real young, I got to make the cigars they sold." Said Lincoln, gazing into the stars.

The night sky here was unpolluted and the beauty of space was clearly visible. Stars, distant worlds, and lights unknown lit it up.

Mary moved her hand onto Lincoln's, their fingers entwining.

"My folks were bankers, but our money is long gone from that fire." Said Mary, looking up at the sky.

"Our folks don't matter out here, though. Just what's out here matters. Me and you, for example." Said Lincoln, turning his head to Mary.

"Yeah, just us." Said Mary, looking back at him.

Their heads inched closer to each other, and as their eyes closed, their lips touched. They spent the rest of the night out there, holding hands and staring at the stars.

When they woke up the next morning, they would keep going on these dates, for 3 months.
