12 Years Ago, a new private had just joined the White Marshal Corps, Private Mackeroy. After getting through his training, in which he excelled, he was immediately shipped off to the garrison guarding Aberna, the capital of the White Marshal Empire. This would be where he proved himself.

Aberna was the target of many raids, due to its size and population, leaving much of it unguarded, but full of things to take. Still, it was a dangerous thing to do, so it was only raided by big groups, like the Red Sun Pirates, the biggest scourge to ever terrorize the west of Aurelia.

Their time would come, but it was not today. For now, they still raided everywhere there was something to take. And, on March 17th, 5488, they would engage in the biggest, most deadly raid to ever occur, in the city of Aberna. This would be where they lost the upper hand, and where the White Marshals consolidated much more power. It would also be the start of Private Mackeroy's journey into leadership. But, for now, the Private and the other soldiers were marching through the city, looking for disturbances.

On the western side, Private Mackeroy and another soldier were engaging in a conversation.

"No, I say that Captain Wallace would destroy the Sergeant in a fight easily. He's had so much more combat experience!" Said Private Mackeroy.

"Yes, but he hasn't fought in nearly 5 years, and he is getting old. How could he possibly stand up to someone as young and strong as the Sergeant?" Asked the other soldier.

"I see your point, but-" His words were interrupted as a missile came flying towards the west gate, smashing it and the nearby walls open. After this, a flood of raiders rushed in, and a bullet flew straight into the body of the soldier, followed by several more.

Private Mackeroy ran, taking cover behind a nearby building, popping shots back at them, as he was grazed in the neck by a bullet. Bleeding, he ran away as the raiders continued advancing, running to the command center, where the Captain was laying, having been shot in the chest and leg. Private Mackeroy carried him on his back out of the city through the north gate, stopping in the nearby forest to tend to his wounds.

Captain Bartholomew Wallace was a very respected leader of the White Marshal Corps, and by saving his life, Private Mackeroy earned his respect. A few weeks later, he would be commemorated and ranked up to Lieutenant under the Captain, and the captain owed him a life debt: Mackeroy saved his life, so Wallace must save his.
