On the way back to the mountain, he heard the distinct footsteps of a steed, and when it came into view on the trail, he recognized it immediately: It was Captain Wallace.

Mackeroy got ready to run, but Captain Wallace spoke before he could.

"I'm not here to fight! I'm here to warn you!" He yelled, as Mackeroy stopped the muffalo.

"Of what?" Asked Mackeroy, looking at the man with a mix of curiosity and disdain.

"My troops are coming for you. We know you are in the mountains somewhere. I can hold them off for no longer than a week." He explained quickly.

"Why help a deserter like me?" Asked Mackeroy.

"We both know you wouldn't desert us, I just can't prove it to the higher ups. I'm sorry we must be enemies. Goodbye, old friend." Said the Captain, turning around and rushing off.

Mackeroy arrived back on the mountain a few days later, and he began to tell everyone to pack.

"Why? Why are we leaving?" Asked Lincoln, putting out the cigar in his mouth.

"The mercenaries we hired are offering us shelter." Answered Mackeroy. "Everyone, start packing!" He yelled to the camp, before turning back to Lincoln. "And, the White Marshals are onto the fact we camped up here."

"What? How?!" Bellowed Lincoln, spittle flying everywhere.

"I wouldn't have known, but I was warned. We need to leave now!" Answered Mackeroy, rushing to pack stuff onto the muffalo.

"Who warned you?" Asked Lincoln.

"An old friend." Answered Mackeroy.

"Who!?" Yelled Lincoln, pulling a knife from his belt and putting it in Mackeroy's face. "My daughter is in danger! Who!?"

"The Captain! I trust him!" Answered Mackeroy, fear in his voice.

"And if it's a trap!?" Questioned Lincoln, the knife still in his face.

"It isn't! He owes me a debt! He can't turn me in, it's how it works!" Explained Mackeroy.

Lincoln relented, taking the knife out of his face, and he and everyone else began to pack. They made it to the outlander camp about 3 days later. But, the White Marshals were following the trail left behind by them, and would soon find them.
