Twins often said that they were lucky as they had a built in best friend. For twins where one has died, the surviving twin makes the remark that it felt unnatural to die apart when they were born together.

These statements were not true for the Swan Twins. Isabella Marie and Grace Helena Swan were not close nor would they ever be close.

Perhaps it was the fact that they weren't raised together minus a month every year. That was due to their mother, Renée, leaving her husband and youngest daughter in Forks while she took Bella far away.

Perhaps it was the fact that Bella was jealous of how Charlie actually took care of Grace while she always had to take care of Renée. Or maybe it was the fact that Grace always resented her birth giver for abandoning her and her father.

Whatever the reason, Bella and Grace never saw each other as sisters, let alone twins.

The morning of January 3rd, 2005, Grace and Charlie Swan were sitting at the table eating breakfast. It was Grace's first day back to school now that Christmas Break was over.

Every so often the Chief Of Police would look at his daughter, open his mouth and then immediately close it.

"Dad, you obviously have something to say." Grace said

He nodded and took a deep breath to muster up the courage, "Bella called. Said she wanted to live with us. She'll be here in 10 days." He revealed

The redhead stopped chewing, "Great." She monotoned, "That makes me really happy."

Honestly, she didn't know how to feel about Bella moving in. Sure, they were twins but they didn't know each other all that well.

She looked down at the rest of her cereal and decided she was done eating. She got up from the table and dumped the contents of her bowl in the sink before running water over it and in the bowl.

As she took her lunch that she prepared last night out of the fridge, she looked at her father, "When exactly did Bella call?" She asked

Charlie scratched his head, "Night before last."

Grace let out a breath of relief. At least her father hasn't been hiding it for too long. And at least he told her 10 days in advance instead of the morning of.

She double checked that she had everything she needed for the school day and the band practice that followed before outing her lunch contain her bag.

"I'm not sharing a room with her, right?" She doubled checked

Her father shook his head, "She has the room across from you." He told her

She hoped that Bella coming didn't change anything. She liked going to the diner for dinner, she loved having her father coming to her band concerts, she liked watching football with him. She loved going to The Black house or the Clearwater house to hang out. She loved hanging out with Leah.

She didn't want anything to change.

Maybe it was stupid to think that Bella would somehow change everything but it was something Grace feared.

"Dad," Grace called out and Charlie turned his head to look at her, "We're... I love you." She told him, changing her mind

He brought her into a hug, "I love you too Gracie-Bug." He told her, "Just because Bella's coming... nothing's gonna change." He reassured her

However, in 10 days, the Swan Twins destiny would be kick-started and everything would change.

It's a bit short, but I think it works.
