After school and practice, Grace headed down to La Push to see Leah. She pulled up to the Clearwater house and then got out.

As she did, the door opened and Harry, Leah's father, came out, "Sorry, Gracie. Leah's been throwing up on and off all day." He told her

She frowned, "Is she okay? Does she need anything or do you guys need anything?" She asked

Harry shook his head, "We're okay, but thank you." He told her and then handed her something, "Fish Fry for you guys."

The youngest Swan took the fish fry and with a closed mouth smile, "Tell Leah I said I hope she feels better." She told him before getting in her car

She grabbed her phone and typed out a quick message to her best friend.

Hope you feel better Lee. Let me know if you need anything :)

She sent it and put her phone on the cupholder before she started driving back home.

Later that night, Grace was rereading The Last Kingdom when her phone rang.

She picked it up and answered, "Hello?"

"Gracie," Leah called, her voice broken, cracking

The redhead put her bookmark in the novel and closed it, "Oh, Lee," she said sympathetically, "You sound horrible."

"I feel horrible," she whispered, "'M sorry we couldn't hang out today."

Grace shook her head, although the other girl couldn't see her, "Don't apologize. You'll get better soon."

Leah groaned and the Swan teen felt horrible she couldn't do anything, "What else besides your stomach, head and throat hurt?" She asked

"Everything," she whispered. "Every part of me hurts."

The pain in her voice was nearly tangible, "Do you need me to bring you anything?"

The Clearwater girl let out a pain filled sigh, "No, Golden Girl. I don't want you to catch...whatever this is." She told her, "I just wanted to hear your voice. Will you play something for me?"

The redhead moved to grab her flute, "Anything? Or do you have a specific request?" She asked

"Anything." Leah said

Grace put her phone down and flipped through her music. Since Leah didn't have a specific request, she decided to play Tale As Old As Time from Beauty and the Beast.

When she was done she put her flute down, "Do you want me to play something else?" She asked

"No, that helped." Leah denied, "I'll call you when I can. I'll let you know when you can come down again."

"Alright. Love you Lee." She said, "Call me when you feel better."

"Love you too Golden Girl. I've got to go." She said with sudden urgency and then paused, "Right. When I feel better." She agreed, and her voice had a strange, bitter edge

With a click, the call ended.

She sighed as she put her phone on the charger and repacked her flute. She hoped Leah would feel better soon.
