Chapter 5: A Visit From The Past

Katniss POV

I stay with Peeta in fear that we wont make it out alive, but i can't leave him. He is my everything. Peeta is always there for me, he protects me, he is kind to me, and he loves me. I know if i was in the grasp of a peacekeeper and he had the chance to run he would stay, so i will too. I sprint towards the peacekeeper, and crash him to the floor but thats when everything goes black.

I see the meadow. Large Willow Trees sway with the wind as a lay on the soft grass. "Whats going on?" i whisper under my breath. "Katniss! Ive been waiting for you!" A soft echoed voice cries out. I spin my head over to see a young blonde hair girl with bright blue eyes and a sweet smile. I know this girl. She's my little duck. The one who gave her life to help the capitol children. The one who i tried to save in the reaping. The one who I still morn over today. Primrose.

"Pri-Prim?!" I stutter. "Yeah." says as she runs into my arms. "but... How? You were dead!" I say shocked. "Mhm. Well... not "were" dead... more like still am dead." she says with a tear in her eye. "Wha-what? Wait? Am i dead?" I ask trembling with fear. "No. your dreaming. Im sorry to say this but you have to wake up or you'll die, and i don't want that." Prim replies, "What?!" I answer "Katniss the peacekeepers! I love you Katniss. Bye for now" She reminds me.

I let out a gasp and look at my surroundings. I'm in a dark black room supposedly tied to something. I don't know where I am or how I got here, but I need to find Peeta. "Peeta!!!" I scream at the top of my lungs. I carefully listen for a reply but the room stays silent. "Peeta Please answer!!!" I scream once more. I wait for his voice which I long to hear but there's no hope. He's gone. I feel my way around the rope tied around me whilst tears stream like a waterfall, down my cheeks. Maybe if I can find away out of here I can find Peeta. My fingers find where the knot in the rope was tied and I quickly manage to untie it. Now all I have to do is find the way out. The pitch black room makes it nearly impossible to find a door but just a small ray of light will lead me to an escape route. And there I find it. A white beam of glowing sun, blazing threw a crack in the door. Without hesitation I rush over to the light and slowly twist the brass doorknob. The old door creeks open slowly to a deep dark hallway. "Peeta?!" I shout one last time. "Katniss it's not worth looking for him he is gone, and trust me it takes you ten times longer to put yourself back together then it does to fall apart." An old friend chokes out.
