The sun peeked slowly over Hollow, Texas, causing a bright ray of light to shine into Laceys bedroom. Her eyes fluttered open slowly as the sun shone upon her face. She stood, squinting, she gazed through her bedroom window that overlooked the farm.
The horses pasture sat to the right of her window, Rockey, Blaze, and Trigger, stood, grazing on the fresh dewy grass. The cattle were off to the left, wandering around the pasture. Just underneath her window was the round pen, in which her new horse, Harley, paced around.
She smiled and yawned. Lacey slipped on her slippers and walked quickly down the stairs. Jackson already stood in the kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee. She walked up, and hugged him from behind.
“Mornin’ sleepy” He said, his voice scruffy from just waking up. Lacey kissed his cheek and walked to the front door to slip on her coat.
“Did you check the chickens' feed?” Lacey asked, not facing Jackson, while slipping on her boots. Jackson just looked at her.
“What?” She asked, smirking.
“You know those hens hate me.” He said, sipping his coffee.
“Then I'll come with you.”
“No, I'm not-” He was interrupted as Lacey drug him out of the front door.

“Hey! Hey come back here!” Jackson yelled as he sprinted after a hen.
“You dirty bird! Come back- WOAH!” Jackson's foot caught on a root, and he tripped, causing him to fall face first into a mud puddle. Lacey ran up behind him laughing. She picked up the hen and walked to Jackson. Jackson stood slowly, spitting out a mouthful of muddy water.
He glared at Lacey. Lacey just laughed as she walked away with the hen in hand.

Lacey held the hen close to her as Jackson held the chicken door open for her. She placed the hen back into the coop and walked in to check the feed. She jumped when Jackson let out a squeal. Lacey turned to see Jackson holding a handful of feed. He chuckled,
“I guess they kinda like m- AGH!” He yanked his hand away.
“Spoke to soon” he said, shooting an evil glare at the hen that bit him. The hen clucked and started running after him.
“AAGHHH NO WAIT! I DIDNT MEAN IT! IM SORRY!” He squealed as he was chased around the chicken coop. Lacey stood in the middle of the coop, holding her stomach as she laughed, hard.
Time skip
Lacey and Jackson walked side by side back to their house.
“Never ask me to feed your chickens again” He said, frowning. Lacey snorted and pulled a feather from his hair.
