Set Your Heart Ablaze

Chapter 3

With one swing of her blade, (Y/N) successfully decapitated two more demons. Their heads rolled to the ground as their bodies slowly turned to dust. Sliding her blade back into its sheath,  (Y/N) noticed that the sun was once again beginning to rise. Small amounts of sunlight began to light up the area, and soon it would drive the demons back into their hiding places. A smile found its way onto the young woman's face as she basked in the scenery. The Final selection had come to an end, she had survived.

Despite how tired her body felt, and how much her legs ached, (Y/N) pushed herself to make her way back to the starting point, all the while hoping Rengoku had survived as well. Soon, (Y/N) arrived at the starting point, noticing only a few of the original participants had made it out with their lives. The thought did make her sad, but also reminded her of how lucky she was that she still had her own life.

"(Y/N)! I'm glad to see you survived!" A familiar, bold voice caught the young woman's attention. Turning her head to the side, (Y/N) smiled when she spotted Rengoku. His skin was stained with dirt and he had a few small scratches, but otherwise he was ok.

"Rengoku, I'm glad to see you're alright as well" she replied, letting out a small sigh of relief. The pair walked forward, joining the rest of the survivors. Most of them looked traumatized, their eyes filled with dread as they stared forward. (Y/N) could only imagine what they had witnessed while in that forest.

"Welcome back" the group turned their head to face the same person that had greeted them at the beginning of the week.

"Now that you're officially part of the demon slayer corpse, you'll first be assigned a Kasugai Crow. Seemingly out of nowhere a crow flew toward (Y/N). The young woman held her arm out, allowing the animal to land on it. She smiled, petting the bird's head gently, which it leaned into.

"Kasugai crows are used for communication. Next you'll pick the ore from wich your sword will be forged, as well as getting the measurements for your uniforms" with that, the girl waited her turn and stepped up toward the table. On top of it was an asortmant of different ones, yet none of them stood out particularly. With a confused expression on her face, (Y/N) reached her hand out, picking one of them without much thought. And after getting her measurements, the final selection came to its official end.

"It looks like we'll be parting ways" Rengoku spoke, arms crossed over his chest as he continued to smile at the girl.

"It seems so, I wish you luck Rengoku." (Y/N) replied,

"I wish you luck as well, perhaps we'll cross paths again!" With that, Kyojuro and (Y/N) parted ways, part of her wished to see him again.
